to limited in practice The Green Bay Packers practiced in full pads on Thursday Womens Tramon Williams Jersey , preparing for one of the toughest games of the early part of the team’s 2018 schedule. With the Minnesota Vikings coming to town in week two, all eyes will be on the Packers’ injured stars, Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. Although there was no change in the practice status for the team’s star quarterback — he remained a non-participant due to his knee injury — there was good news for the top wide receiver.Adams was listed as a limited participant in Thursday’s practice, a step up from Wednesday when he did not participate. Adams is dealing with a shoulder injury that he suffered in the fourth quarter of the Packers’ week one win over the Chicago Bears, and although his public comments indicate that he intends to play, that status is not quite certain.Last year Womens Antonio Morrison Jersey , Adams played in just one of the Packers’ two games against Minnesota. He caught five of ten targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in week six, the game when Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone. However, he was inactive for the week 16 contest, as he had suffered a concussion the week before on a dirty hit by Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis. As for Rodgers, both he and head coach Mike McCarthy have said that the two-time MVP does not need to practice at all this week to be ready to play on Sunday. It is possible that he could suit up in some fashion on Saturday, but barring some unexpected setback Womens Corey Linsley Jersey , he will probably sit until Sunday afternoon rolls around. The one notable addition to the Vikings’ report is defensive end Everson Griffen, who popped up on the Thursday report with a toe injury. Keep an eye on his game status on Friday to see if this becomes a more significant issue that might keep him out or limited on Sunday. Here are the teams’ injury reports for Thursday (players with different statuses from Wednesday are shown in italics).Packers Thursday Practice ReportLimited Participation: WR Davante Adams (shoulder), ILB Oren Burks (shoulder)Did Not Participate: S Josh Jones (ankle), QB Aaron Rodgers (knee)Vikings Thursday Injury ReportFull Participation: CB Mackensie Alexander (ankle), RB Roc Thomas (ankle), CB Trae Waynes (knee)Limited Participation: C Pat Elflein (ankle/shoulder) Womens Muhammad Wilkerson Jersey , DE Everson Griffen (toe) In one of this NFL season’s most anticipated prime time matchups, the Green Bay Packers are set to take on the New England Patriots this weekend on Sunday Night Football. For many, it’s Aaron Rodgers versus Tom Brady — the battle of the GOATS. For others. it’s Mike McCarthy versus Bill Belichick, two of the longest tenured head coaches in football; although with a notably imbalanced distribution of hardware. This may be just another game for the Patriots, who have found their offensive rhythm and are striding effortlessly toward another postseason, but it means much more to the Packers.A loss here wouldn’t be a season killer Womens Kentrell Brice Jersey , but it would be pretty demoralizing. With all of that to look forward to, we were pleased to be joined by Jay Soderberg on today’s show to help preview the game. Packers work out CBs Bashaud Breeland and David Amerson Cheap Kenny Clark Jersey , per report It appears that the Green Bay Packers’ issues on defense during the first three games of the 2018 season are leading the front office to look outside the organization to see pass coverage. On Tuesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN reported that the Packers brought in a pair of veteran cornerbacks for workouts, both of whom have had bizarre offseasons. The first name is Bashaud Breeland, who was one of the top cornerbacks on this year’s free agent market. A 2014 fourth-round pick, Breeland started all of his first four years in Washington before hitting the market, and he initially agreed to a contract with the Carolina Panthers. However, he injured his foot in a freak accident in the Dominican Republic and failed his physical, remaining on the open market ever since. The question marks about Breeland do not involve his talent or productivity. Though not an elite athlete, he did run the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds at the 2014 NFL Combine and he possesses good height at 5-foot-11-3/8. In four years for Washington, he recorded eight interceptions and 59 total pass defenses http://www.packerscheapshoponline.com/cheap-authentic-kentrell-brice-jersey , with at least one pick and 11 defenses in each season. Instead, his physical and the financials of the situation will likely be a determining factor as to whether he can help Mike Pettine’s defense.David Amerson is the other reported name, and he was also a Washington draft pick, going in round two of the 2013 Draft. After two years in DC, the team waived him early in the 2015 season, and the Oakland Raiders claimed him. He played for them through the end of that season, posting a whopping four interceptions and 26 pass defenses in 14 games, leading to a massive four-year, $33 million contract extension in the summer of 2016.However, the Raiders released him unceremoniously this offseason after just two years on that deal Cheap JK Scott Jersey , including a 2017 that was largely lost to a foot injury of his own. The Chiefs signed him to a one-year, $2.25 million contract in February, but they cut him loose in the cut-down to 53. Amerson tested better than Breeland in his pre-draft workouts, running a 4.44 40 at the Combine and a 3-cone drill of 6.75 seconds at his Pro Day (compared to Breeland’s 7.03 at the Combine). He also stands nearly two inches taller at 6-foot-1.Demovsky’s reporting also indicates that several other defensive players were in the team facilities today as well but mentioned only these two by name. The team also had a workout scheduled for offensive lineman Gerhard de Beer, news that his agent reported on Monday. The Packers currently have five cornerbacks on the roster: veterans Tramon Williams and Davon House, second-year pro Kevin King (who missed last week’s game with a groin injury), and rookies Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson. In addition, the team is expected to open up a roster spot by placing defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson on injured reserve.Hottest Take of the Week - Clay Matthews’ penalty and the War of 1812 The Green Bay Packers ended their week two game against the Minnesota Vikings with a tie. The controversial calls from the refs were partially to blame. This lead to many, many takes about what happened and Matub is here to talk about them.First, he looks at the aftermath of the game against the Vikings. What flags were suspect? Did anyone get fined? Would anyone listen to a parody of Lana Del Ray’s “Summertime Sadness” entitled “Overtime Sadness”? Probably not http://www.thepackersfootballauthentic.com/bryan-bulaga-jersey-authentic , but it’s brought up anyway.Next, Matub looks ahead to this week’s opponent in Washington, D.C. Of course this brings up imagery of General Aaron Charles Rodgers and his march to Atlanta. While the last campaign didn’t turn out so well, the Burning of Washington should be successful. The main target of Matub’s scorn this week is Packers News’ Ryan Wood. Ryan not only had multiple scorching takes about Clay Matthews’ penalty, but committed multiple “Twitter sins” in the process. As Matub always says, “The Ratio” never lies. This coming week, the Packers are the three point favorites. Once again, Matub bets a video of him dancing against the spread. Here’s hoping the Packers can finally come through.
The Buffalo Bills http://www.authenticsbuffalobills.com/cheap-vladimir-ducasse-jersey , in desperate need of some playmakers for the league’s worst offense, are meeting with free agent wide receiver Terrelle Pryor. and ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports that the Bills have offered him a contract, so a signing could be coming.Pryor was cut recently from the New York Jets, after suffering a slight groin tear that was expected to sideline him for two weeks. (Tonight’s game would be the second of those two weeks from the original prognosis.) Though he wasn’t a star for the Jets, Pryor’s stats (two touchdowns and 235 receiving yards) are better than any player on Buffalo’s sorry passing offense today. The 6’4” 228 pound Pryor could be desirable in Buffalo for his athletic traits, if nothing else. The former Ohio State star had a 4.38 forty yard dash in college. Buffalo doesn’t really have a great deep threat on the roster http://www.authenticsbuffalobills.com/cheap-jason-croom-jersey , and Kelvin Benjamin running a slot fade doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.Following a stint as a dual-threat quarterback in the NFL, Pryor converted to wide receiver, where he notched a 77-catch, 1007 yard season with the Browns in 2016. He signed a one year deal with Washington in 2017, but that year was marred with injuries, and Pryor signed a two year deal with New York ahead of this season.Buffalo Bills at Minnesota Vikings: first half open thread The Buffalo Bills face long odds of victory today against the Minnesota Vikings. Right around 60% of users on the officefootballpool.com website selected the Vikings in their knockout pools, and the Bills come into the game a 16.5-point underdog. Of course http://www.authenticsbuffalobills.com/cheap-john-miller-jersey , all that indicates is a lack of confidence in the Bills. There’s a reason why the games are played, and we’re about to find out if the Bills are going to be able to buck those odds.Josh Allen makes his second career start today, and his first start on the road. He was what we thought he was last weekend against the Los Angeles Chargers—he flashed some solid moments, but looked largely raw in a 31-20 defeat. He was able to complete 54.5% of his passes, totaling 245 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions on the afternoon. Buffalo is without it top offensive player http://www.authenticsbuffalobills.com/cheap-matt-milano-jersey , running back LeSean McCoy. Shady suffered a rib injury last weekend against the Los Angeles Chargers. His absence is huge, as the Bills likely would have leaned on him and the running game to help relieve pressure on Allen in his first road start. Veterans Chris Ivory and Marcus Murphy should share duties in the backfield in McCoy’s stead. If the Bills are going to slow the Vikings’ excellent passing offense, they’ll need to pressure quarterback Kirk Cousins early and often. Minnesota’s starting right tackle Rashod Hill is back in the lineup after recovering from a foot injury. His presence will make Buffalo’s pass rushers work harder to achieve their goal.Chat about the first half of the game with us here, Bills fans. Let’s hope it’s a better first half than the other two we’ve had thus far!
Poll: Impact plays from Colts vs. http://www.coltscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-ryan-grant-jersey , the Colts fought a battle against injuries. Thursday night football is a travesty that should either be heavily modified or scraped all together. With that said the Colts battled hard and made plenty of mistakes that resulted in a loss against a team none of us ever want to lose to. While the team seems to have earned some respect given the effort they played with through the injuries, they still dropped to 1-4 on the season. Each week, I will look to break down two of the best or worst plays or situations from the previous game, but I’ll need your help deciding what plays should be given a closer look as I hope to explain what happened in greater detail than the broadcasters can. Often you’ll hear “how did that guy get so open?” and I hope to be able to answer that question for Colts fans this season. This week my vote will go towards Andrew Luck’s touchdown passes because I really need to breakdown something positive. I struggled to come up with individual plays that were impactful given the nature of the game, instead I picked a few of the bigger plays, even if they didn’t change the outcome. Injuries played a huge role but I’m not going to break down film of guys getting hurt, I’m just not going to do it. If you have any ideas other than plays I have listed I would love to hear about them in the comments.Colts training camp roster bubble watch So far during the Indianapolis Colts first 10 training camp practices we’ve discussed those players who are doing well, those who aren’t and we have also mentioned a few who just haven’t been noticed. The regrettably forgettable, if you will. While being noticed for getting owned isn’t a good place to be by any means, those who can’t get noticed simply because they aren’t rising to the occasion is a similar void players don’t want to fall into. It’s very early and the Colts open up the preseason in Seattle Thursday night, and it’s difficult to shove a player into a specific designation right now.On the other hand, with injuries to some come opportunities for others. Each practice offers a time to impress the staff and onlookers, and some are still falling under the radar. Here are some guys who need to get on the radar in a hurry whether it’s in practice or in preseason games as they close in.Offensive LineJust looking across the Colts’ line (from left to right) we see Anthony Castonzo, Quenton Nelson, Ryan Kelly, Matt Slauson and Austin Howard. There’s five, and we should expect 9 as an ideal number to be on the roster if Frank Reich’s assessment is any indication. After that, each tackle position needs a legit backup and versatility becomes key for the rest. With 4 spots open, theoretically, you see Joe Haeg (T/G/C), Braden Smith (G/T?) and Denzelle Good (T/G) who appear to be solid position holders within the top 8 as key backups right now.Now the battle sits with Le’ Raven Clark (T), Mark Glowinski (G), J’Marcus Webb (T), Deyshawn Bond (C/G?) and probably Jeremy Vujnovich (G) who collectively don’t have much position versatility at all. These are your bubble players right now who need to prove that they belong. Right now, I’m not laying any money on this group in terms of a prediction. Running BacksThis group is fairly set Rigoberto Sanchez Jersey , but we need to consider what the Colts might do while Robert Turbin is sitting on a 4-game suspension. If the Colts are to keep just 4, which makes sense, that puts Marlon Mack, Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines as virtual locks right now. The fourth spot — in whatever order you want to add him in that top-4 group — that Turbin would fill in his return becomes somewhat of an opening. Christine Michael has had a real rough time hanging on to the ball, and hasn’t become much of a pass-catching option. Josh Ferguson hasn’t been in practice for several days now, and looks to clearly be the last guy in consideration using simple elimination. The real question with this position is; do they even keep 4 backs to start the season? This is a position that may get filled by a player not yet on the roster, or they may fill the roster spot with a premier special teams player. I don’t even know if I see a bubble from this group — there’s only ‘in’ and ‘out’ right now.Tight EndsJack Doyle, Eric Ebron, Erik Swoope and Ross Travis would easily be my picks right now for this group, without any hesitation. Mo Alie-Cox and Darrell Daniels (with a reasonable guess) are battling Travis for that No. 4 at the position, but I don’t see what these two could offer that the top-4 don’t already give the team.Technically, you could put those three down as the ‘bubble’ guys who need to have good preseason tape in order to reach the 53-man roster. But, this also looks to be a clear fall off from the speed and talent this position offers after Travis.ReceiversT.Y. Hilton, Chester Rogers and Ryan Grant (by default in my opinion) are the top-3 at the position to the Colts coaching staff. Deon Cain is making this roster, and K.J. Brent has been the best of the rest through camp thus far. That, very quickly, gets us to 5 receivers at a position that may, or may not keep 6. You’ve got a fifth-round rookie in Daurice Fountain that the Colts would like to see have long-term viability. Add in Kasen Williams, Steve Ishmael, Zach Pascal, James Wright and Krishawn Hogan who are all trying to make a case to the staff to keep 6, and the bubble here is large. Fountain has been largely quiet to this point and hasn’t been on the practice field since Wednesday. In the meantime Pascal, Williams, Wright and Ishmael have all been coming around in recent days and Hogan seems to be getting more comfortable coming off of his season-ending injury by shedding the knee brace. Most of these bubble guys have been taking time with punt returns before and after practice, and that may very well be the deciding factor going forward. This group is going to be hard to call based on talent and fit.Defensive LineThis group Al Woods Jersey , similar to the offensive line right now, is another that is getting a heavy rotation through training camp. You figure Jabaal Sheard, Kemoko Turay, John Simon, Tarell Basham, Margus Hunt as the defensive ends right now, and then Denico Autry, Tyquan Lewis, Al Woods and Grover Stewart giving you the defensive tackle bunch. That’s nine already, but not out of the realm of likelihood even as Reich and Matt Eberflus are hoping to have a defensive front that can play in waves throughout a game. But, do they actually keep 9?I think in a look at those above, if the Colts were to cut to 8, John Simon might be hard to keep especially with Hunt, Lewis and Autry having the flexibility to work at multiple positions. Simon is just a good football player, though, and he’s had a pretty nice camp to this point despite being sidelined the past couple days with a groin issue. This actually gets pretty interesting.Hassan Ridgeway, Chris McCain, Carraun Reid, Anthony Johnson and Tomasi Laulile fall in behind this group and, like other back-end of the roster guys at other positions, don’t offer much versatility to get them an additional edge. None of these guys fall on the ‘couldn’t-live-without-them’ list by any means, and would need a masterful preseason coupled with good practices to even be considered bubble guys. How much special teams help to they give them? That may be the focus again for the coaching staff when it all comes down.LinebackersWhile it’s fair to say that this position is still wide open in terms of the starters, that’s coming more into focus, and — unfortunately for the bottom of the position — so are the immediate backups. Anthony Walker, if healthy Cheap J'Marcus Webb Jersey , right now is the MIKE, but could easily lose it depending on how much time he spends out of the mix. Skai Moore is right on his heels, and Zaire Franklin is there too for the base look offering some versatility at the other roles as well. The SAM role looks to be Najee Goode’s to lose, and Darius Leonard with Tyrell Adams right behind him are atop the list at the WILL position. Presuming Walker is good for the regular season, that gives us 6 to work with immediately. Watching what Antonio Morrison can do as Goode’s backup, and how much Matthew Adams (very quiet up to now) can do at other roles, including special teams, might be the kicker going forward. You still have Jeremiah George and William Ossai attempting to break in, but it’s a long road for them right now. Ultimately, I think it comes down to Matthew Adams and Morrison as bubble guys, but I also would acknowledge that Morrison is a guy the staff seems to like quite a bit right now as a tone-setter in a physical role. That still means something in the NFL.CornerbacksThe cornerback unit is another one which has had a ton of rotation thus far in training camp. Pierre Desir, Quincy Wilson, Kenny Moore and Nate Hairston have all been getting first-team reps with Desir and Wilson as boundary corners and Moore and Hairston primarily, but definitely not limited to, working in the nickel role. These four, in some 3-man combination, will represent the starters in Week 1 barring any unforeseen injury. Further down the line you have Robert Jackson, who has been rising lately, and then a mish-mash of Lashard Durr, Chris Milton, D.J. White and Henre Toliver to round out the position.Right now I’d put Jackson in with White and Toliver as the two pushing for the CB6 spot as it currently stands. This position — in my humble opinion — is still in need of a top-4 talent to push for snaps. I think White and Toliver, and maybe Durr, could all likely be decent depth, however, if they had to sit in for a significant amount of time it could get scary back there.Look for this to be a position that gives a hard look at someone being dispatched from their current team come the 53-man cut. SafetiesThe Colts safety position is a bit clearer than most I think Adam Vinatieri Jersey , but there’s still a competition for that No. 4 spot. So long as everyone’s ready to go, without any question, Malik Hooker, Clayton Geathers and Matthias Farley are the three who are safe.Once you get to T.J. Green, Ronald Martin, Chris Cooper, Shemarko Thomas and George Odum a lot of questions arise. Green should be considered the front-runner, in my estimation, but not by much. Martin has been pretty good from what I’ve seen from him, Thomas is a physical down-hill attacker and Cooper and Odum both offer a good bit of special teams help as gunners.Dependent upon how the coaching staff sees Green, and if they aren’t in love with any of the others, this could also be a position that gets some action as cuts come down. However, for what we know right now, all of these safeties after Farley should be considered to be on the bubble in that there’s a lot to prove over the next few weeks. One addition that I think needs to be considered with this unit is the rise of Skai Moore in sub packages. He’s been used as the dime linebacker quite a bit when it’s being used in practices and it could play a part with the safeties as well IF the Colts get into some tough decisions with the roster at other positions. What’s Left?As it stands right now, this is the group of players on both side of the ball who I believe are completely safe (in green). You can see that (including kicker, punter, longsnapper) there is currently only 48 spots “spoken for.”This, naturally, leaves just 5 open for the rest of the field. I think Chris Ballard, Frank Reich and company do indeed have some tough decisions to make when it all boils down to it. Who is your 5 players from the field that you’d add to the Colts initial 53-man roster?OffenseDefense
han they were Tuesday. No matter what anyone thinks about the hero Jake Kumerow http://www.authenticsgreenbaypackers.com/cheap-david-bakhtiari-jersey , should he return from IR, the loss of Ty Montgomery and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix represents a blow to the absolute quality of the Green Bay roster. It doesn’t mean they’re a worse team.Take Sunday’s game as a prime example. If Montgomery’s offensive snaps simply go to Aaron Jones, and his special teams snaps to say Marquez Valdes-Scantling, aren’t the Packers actually closer to beating the Rams rather than further? Clinton-Dix gave up embarrassingly bad coverage on the touchdown to Josh Reynolds near the end of the first half. If a player like Jermaine Whitehead or Tramon Williams had been playing free safety, guys who are more likely to simply be in the right place at the right time, wouldn’t the Packers defense have looked better? More to the point, if Josh Jones, with his supreme athletic gifts, had been asked to chase around Todd Gurley in coverage, wouldn’t he have had a better shot at doing so than Whitehead? The touchdown and two-point conversions to Gurley were as simple as Whitehead not being able to track Gurley across the field. For whatever limitations Jones has, and clearly he has some, his speed isn’t one of them. Montgomery’s fumble encapsulated a dual thread line in the trajectory of both players this season. Even if he’ll deny it, players on the team believed Ty’s insistence on taking the ball out stemmed from a lack of touches in the offense, a frustration he voiced on the sideline. Whether it was a “tantrum” or not doesn’t matter. He forced it, making a bad decision in an effort to make a play for the team. Even if it was sub-conscious, it was a selfish decision on Montgomery’s part. That’s the story of Clinton-Dix’s season. Though he’s made some plays with interceptions, much more often he’s been out of position, freelancing, taking unnecessary risks to make picks Color Rush Jimmy Graham Jersey , and showing an unwillingness to tackle, presumably in part to avoid injury to anticipation of his free agency (though his poor tackling is hardly a new problem). If what the Packers want from their free safety is a high-variance playmaker who won’t tackle and won’t always be responsible for his role, how could playing a rookie like Josh Jackson out of position actively make the team worse? A veteran like Tramon Williams would almost certainly know where to be and when, plus has better instincts, intelligence and ball skills than HHCD. At worst, Whitehead is a much more reliable tackler and a more agile safety in man coverage. He’s also faster, with quicker feet, plus has experience playing all over this defense. Much like with Micah Hyde, there’s a non-zero chance Clinton-Dix was blocking the best free safety on the team from getting to play. For whatever matchup advantages Montgomery would have provided in limited snaps, the difference in his production as a runner compared to Jones or his ability as a pass blocker relative to Jamaal Williams doesn’t look worth it. Green Bay, suddenly flush with playmakers at the skill positions, looks better off feeding those targets to Davante Adams, who proved once again Sunday he’s a mismatch against whoever he’s seeing opposite him. Mike McCarthy mentioned locker room culture as a contributing factor in the trade, and on Wednesday Brian Gutekunst implied that he believes the Packers are better without Montgomery and Clinton-Dix. For whatever talent Ty brought, it’s clear his presence on the team was no longer tenable after Sunday. And Clinton-Dix never became the leader this team hoped; in fact, he openly undermined leadership and talked on the record about having one foot out the door.“Football is the ultimate team game and taking individual pieces out doesn’t necessarily weaken the team,” Gutekunst said Wednesday. In this case, there’s a strong case to be made these moves can make the Packers better on the field even if they have less talent. Players who are willing to happily play their roles are more likely to do so effectively, than players who feel they have something to prove and in this case were willing to go beyond the structure of the team to do it. Having a chip on your shoulder is one thing Youth Mike Daniels Jersey , but actively undermining the success of the team to meet personal goals is another. Even if that’s not a reasonable explanation for the decisive play Sunday or HHCD’s play over the last few years (a point I won’t concede), at the very least these were high variance players who weren’t able to consistently execute what was asked of them. Sliding their snaps to players who can simply do their jobs, even if the top-end production isn’t as good, could make this Packers team better overall. Baltimore Ravens demolish Buffalo Bills http://www.billsfootballauthentics.com/lorenzo-alexander-jersey-authentic , 47-3 ills in all three phases of the game, cruising to a 47-3 victory on a windy, rainy Sunday afternoon. The Bills put up a giant goose egg in the first half, with seven consecutive three-and-outs and no first downs before the end of the half. Starting quarterback Nate Peterman was chased from the game in the third quarter after throwing his second interception of the day, dashing Buffalo’s plans to keep rookie Josh Allen on ice.Peterman had an awful day reminiscent of his first career start against the LA Chargers, finishing 5-of-18 for 24 yards and two interceptions, while taking three sacks for 12 yards. His receivers didn’t do him any favors, with Kelvin Benjamin in particular having a day to forget. Buffalo’s top receiver caught only one of 7 targets http://www.billsfootballauthentics.com/charles-clay-jersey-authentic , dropped a potential touchdown pass, and was beaten running his route on one of Peterman’s interceptions.Even when the Bills had circumstances work out in their favor, they failed to capitalize. A fumble recovery set the Bills up at the edge of field goal range, but they moved backwards and missed the kick on fourth down. A Ravens punt returner muffed the punt, and there were only Bills in the vicinity to try and recover the ball, but they bumbled around the ball and swept it out of bounds, handing possession back to the Ravens. The defense was extremely shaky at the start of the game, as the Ravens controlled the clock and scored two touchdowns. They settled in with the second quarter http://www.billsfootballauthentics.com/phillip-gaines-jersey-authentic , but as the offensive failures piled up, so did exhaustion. Baltimore ended the half with a nine-play, 85 yard touchdown drive that was conspicuous for the way Sean McDermott failed to call timeout a single time in the final three minutes of the half, and his tired defenders surrendered in the end zone.In the third quarter, the Ravens benefited from outstanding field position with a fumbled snap from rookie Cody Bojorquez and a Peterman interception, scoring two more touchdowns with only 15 net yards. At that point, there was really no more argument for keeping the rookie on the bench.Allen came in during the third quarter against Baltimore’s starters and brought some life to the offense, driving the team two a field goal on his second drive and single-handedly tallying more offense than the rest of Buffalo’s players combined to that point. It was against some softer zone looks http://www.billsfootballauthentics.com/jordan-mills-jersey-authentic , but Allen was still clearly more effective than his predecessor on the field. By the fourth quarter, the Ravens were also playing their rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson, effectively turning this into a lopsided preseason look. One of the only bright spots was rookie linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. He had seven tackles, a sack, the aforementioned forced fumble, and two passes defended (one was nearly an interception). His teammate Matt Milano also had a great day, with 8 tackles and two tackles for loss.On an injury note, rookie cornerback Taron Johnson left the game after a hard tackle and did not return. Shaq Lawson appeared to tweak his lower body in chasing Jackson on a bootleg http://www.billsfootballauthentics.com/jordan-poyer-jersey-authentic , and walked off the field.Josh Allen named starting Quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Bengals The Buffalo Bills announced the starting quarterback for this week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Both Nathan Peterman and Josh Allen have been playing better than expected this preseason, amplifying a quarterback race that was widely expected to see the rookie Allen sit ahile longer. Despite Peterman’s often excellent outings, it will be Allen that suits up as the starter when the Bills host the Bengals this coming Sunday. McDermott has indicated that there was a plan for Josh Allen, but that it was “in pencil.” If the original plan was to take some time to let Allen catch up to NFL speed, it appears that McDermott may be taking advantage of the eraser on the other end. Allen took the starter’s reps in practice today as we noted here. After rotating quarterbacks each day and holding off on naming starters for the previous two games as long as possible, the early news regarding Allen becomes even more noteworthy.
Entering the Indianapolis Colts Week 1 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals we knew there were some real questions that needed answered on both sides of the ball. With so many new aspects to the team http://www.coltscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-kenny-moore-jersey , we essentially had no clue what to expect from this young roster. While a single game isn’t much to go on in terms of getting a full picture on how this team will perform throughout the season, we did however, get some insights into a few of the more basic of expectations.Colts defense is what the staff hoped forEarly on in today’s game it was the Colts defense that impressed and made plays. Al Woods pressured Andy Dalton on the Bengals first possession (hit his right arm) which forced an interception for Kenny Moore, and Matthias Farley forced a fumble to give Andrew Luck the ball back for a second time.Clayton Geathers even forced a fumble late in the game, but the Colts didn’t recover that one. The Colts were flying around, hitting hard and were even able to get some pressure on Dalton. The Colts were able to get 7 points off of those two turnovers — without Luck’s interception it would have been at least 10 points — and that’s supposed to be enough for a young defense with minimal expectations. Unfortunately, the bend-but-don’t-break approach allowed a ton of rushing yards, and Andy Dalton was able to settle down in the second half and eventually gave the Bengals the lead well into the fourth quarter.Ultimately though, the Colts allowed way too many big plays which made everyone’s day harder in the end. But, you have to love the energy they bring. Let’s just hope that’s enough going forward. Without the Colts two turnovers, this game is a 10-point win for the Colts. There may be somebig-yardage games on the horizon from opposing offense’s, but I think we are seeing a scrappy unit that can assist Andrew Luck in changing the result in a few games this year.Andrew Luck was excellent in his first game backWe knew Luck was going to give us some of his YOLO throws this year. That’s just what we’re getting with him as the quarterback. You love it most of the time, but you might just break your own nose by slapping yourself in the face after some of his other aimless tosses. It comes with the territory.Luck gave us a couple of those today as well. He threw into double coverage inside the red zone which resulted in an interception, and he nearly threw a couple more in the second half. On the other hand, Luck was phenomenal on third downs overall, he was able to get through several reads and pick apart the Cincinnati secondary and he showed no negative signs of his shoulder issues of the past. Luck was 39-of-53 for 319 yards, threw 2 touchdowns and an interception. We also saw his ability to work in high-pressure situations as he took the offense down the feild (down 4) for a potential game-winning drive scenario. He did his part, aside from that red zone interception, and uncorked a couple deep balls as well throughout the game. That’s quite a workload, and performance and further understanding that there’s nothing to worry about with Luck as a passer. Margus Hunt came through in a big way in Week 1Hunt, a guy that most of us felt the Colts defense could do without this year, was quite productive in his first action of the year. Hunt came away with the team’s only 2 sacks on the day, tallied 3 tackles for loss and forced the ball carrier inside per his positional requirements.Hunt is clearly not the speed option for the Colts at defensive end, but he earned his stripes in terms of physicality. He smashed the guy across from him multiple times and was consistently chasing the quarterback out of the pocket. A nice start for Hunt’s 2018 season.Darius Leonard is necessary for the Colts’ defense in 2018Leonard has come out and played really well through the preseason, but there’s always questions as to how a rookie will perform when the lights come on. Leonard answered that call with 9 total tackles in his NFL debut. He was constantly in the mix in pursuit, often having to sift through the trash crossing the field Clayton Geathers Jersey , and made Dalton’s day miserable with his ability to get into passing lanes, especially in the first half. He didn’t officially defend a pass, but he altered the vision of Dalton several times and was often ripping the ball soon after the catch as well. His speed and instincts are shining through just as Frank Reich and Chris Ballard had hoped.Any encouragement his effort gives to some of the younger pieces of this defense the better. I told you that this defense would offer some excitement.Frank Reich’s debut as a play-caller was very solidThe battle between calling plays, and reacting to the results will go on forever. But, for Reich, his first game acting as the head coach and play-caller was pretty impressive overall. We saw the offense called to get Andrew Luck in a rhythm, and it worked. We saw the route combinations offer deep-ball ability, plus the option to get it safely underneath which kept the Bengals’ defense on their toes. The offense was 11-of-17 on third downs, Luck threw for over 300 yards in spite of only a 6-yard average per attempt. The running game was up and down, but overall Reich showed that he’s going to be pretty even across the board in terms of his approach to each play. 22 carries is about what you want for a young running back group in their first outing, and allowing Luck to drive this team down the field is the way the Colts will win this year. That much is pretty obvious.Reich is definitely going to be using his tight ends pretty liberally, and that’s another aspect to how important it is for Luck to have three levels of play makers to keep drives alive. Additionally, on 6 of the Colts 10 meaningful drives they were able to churn out 8 plays or more, and that’s a winning approach with Luck under center any way you slice it. Derek Carr avoided a sack, stepped up in the pocket and found Brandon LaFell for a go-ahead 6-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter for the Oakland Raiders. He then let out a scream in his most boisterous celebration of the season, letting out the pent up frustration from one of the more trying weeks of his career. It proved to be short-lived relief as the Raiders collapsed again in the fourth quarter and lost for the sixth time in seven games this season, falling 42-28 to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.Carr's no-good, very bad week that started with a trade of his No. 1 receiver Amari Cooper, featured reports questioning his toughness and his teammates' belief in him as well as his long-term future with the Raiders ended with another loss."I had to answer some funny questions, but you know I know that you guys have to do your jobs," Carr said. "It's nothing personal, I know that. It was different. If I'm being honest as a human, it was hard. A lot of the stuff that was going around, I was like, 'Man, that's just not true and that hurts.' Especially just as a man Cheap Ryan Kelly Jersey , not even a football player. My goodness, enough is enough. Just to be able to go out here and play football again."Carr played well, throwing three touchdown passes and running it in for a fourth score. He completed 17 straight passes at one point and played turnover-free for just the second time this season. But it wasn't enough to get the Raiders (1-6) out of their rut thanks to an even better performance from Andrew Luck and the Colts (3-5), who broke the game open with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter."I think he's the strength of this team and I'm excited about him," coach Jon Gruden said. Here are some other takeaways from the game:MOST POINTS IN NFL HISTORYVinatieri set the record as the NFL's top all-time scorer in the first half. He kicked a 26-yard field goal in the first quarter to tie Morten Andersen with 2,544 points and then added a 25-yarder late in the second to set the record. Vinatieri scored three more points, giving him 2,550 for his career."I never thought I'd play that long," said the 45-year-old Vinatieri, who is in his 23rd NFL season. "I never thought I'd be standing here talking to you guys about all-time records. But I love my teammates — all of them — for the last 20-something years, unselfishly going out there and helping me do my job. A lot of great memories along the way. I think that's the best part about this day — less the record and more that we got the record in a win."TIGHT END TRIOLuck threw TD passes to tight ends Mo Alie-Cox, Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle, making the Colts the first team since the 1970 merger to get TD catches from three tight ends in the same game. Doyle's 10-yarder put the Colts up for good but the most impressive was the first, a 26-yarder with one hand by Alie-Cox."I don't get too emotional on the sideline, but I got pretty jacked up after that catch," coach Frank Reich said. "That was unreal. That catch will rival anything that we'll see. Big time."MIGHTY MACKColts running back Marlon Mack followed up last week's career-best, 126-yard performance against Buffalo with an even better one. He ran for 132 yards and two TDs. This is just the sixth time the Colts have had a 100-yard rusher during Luck's seven NFL seasons and the first time since Joseph Addai did it in 2007 that a back topped the century mark in consecutive games."Definitely as a running back, more carries you feel like you get more comfortable in the game," Mack said. "That really, truly helps you out. Even if you do get less, you have to make what (they give you) work."MARTIN'S GAFFEThe game turned in the fourth quarter when Doug Martin fumbled on the first play from scrimmage after Luck's TD pass to Doyle had given the Colts the lead. That set up Mack's second TD run and spoiled what had been a promising day for Martin in his first start in place of the injured Marshawn Lynch. Martin had 13 carries for 72 yards and caught two passes for 17."To fumble like that at the end, it sucks but a lot of guys went out there and played their hearts out," Martin said. "They put it all out there on the field."
Thomas on injured reserve Youth Kendall Fuller Jersey , the team announced via its official Twitter account on Saturday morning. With safety Daniel Sorensen expected back from injured reserve at some point this season and the Chiefs other recent additions to the list in Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and Armani Watts, this likely ends Thomas’ season. The NFL allows two players to return from injured reserve each year. It’s been quite a nine-day roller coaster for McQuay, the 23-year-old safety the Chiefs selected in the sixth round in last year’s draft. McQuay went from being released back to the practice squad to now the active roster during that span.McQuay being moved to the active roster makes him the fourth safety behind Ron Parker, Jordan Lucas and Josh Shaw, likely ending the chance we see wide receiver Marcus Kemp playing defense Sunday night against the New England Patriots. That being said, with the Chiefs’ luck when it comes to injuries lately, you never do know.Eric Murray is out for Sunday night’s game and Eric Berry is listed as doubtful for the sixth week in a row. Like the Rundown? Subscribe to our YouTube channel here. The Kansas City Chiefs are on the road this Sunday, taking on the Cleveland Browns. The Chiefs seek to extend their record to 8-1, and the Browns want to... well... not be the Browns. Here are five things to watch during the game:1. Beware the headless NFL teamPhoto by Jason Miller/Getty ImagesUnless you’ve just returned from a sabbatical on Uranus, you’re probably aware that on Monday, the Browns fired not only their head coach Hue Jackson, but also their offensive coordinator Todd Haley.Browns defensive coordinator Gregg Williams — yes, the former New Orleans Saints coordinator who was suspended for his part in the Bountygate scandal — is the interim head coach.Running backs coach Freddie Kitchens is the interim offensive coordinator.Since the season began, I’ve been worried about this game.As offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Haley has always been difficult for the Chiefs to beat. It’s hard to know if that’s been more about Haley himself or the players he was directing, but Haley was certainly part of the equation. So there’s one worry gone. But others remain. On Monday http://www.chiefsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-kareem-hunt-jersey , Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that Jackson and Haley’s firing wouldn’t significantly change their preparation, because there just wouldn’t be enough time to change the team’s schemes.Freddie Kitchens during his days with the Cardinals.Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsBut with Kitchens calling the plays, the team’s offensive tendencies will likely be different.Still, the Chiefs may be able to get a glimpse of what Kitchens might do. According to a nice rundown on Kitchens’ resume on our sister blog Dawgs By Nature, Kitchens called the offensive plays in the fourth quarter of the Browns’ preseason victory over the Detroit Lions. The biggest unknown, however, will be how Browns players respond to this situation. While it is true that NFL teams don’t tend do much better when an interim head coach steps in, the first game for an interim head coach is a different story. I found an analysis showing that from 2003-2015, interim head coaches were 9-11 in their first game. We should be familiar with this phenomenon.Although they’ve probably done their best to forget it, Chiefs fans will likely remember the last time Todd Haley was fired mid-season.Defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel was named interim head coach, and eventually became permanent head coach.Crennel ended up 4-15 with the Chiefs, but in his first game at the helm, the Chiefs dealt the Green Bay Packers their only loss of the season. In that game, the Chiefs’ offensive starters were Kyle Orton, Thomas Jones, Le’Ron McClain Dee Ford Jersey , Steve Breaston, Terrance Copper, Anthony Becht, Branden Albert, Ryan Lilja, Casey Wiegmann, Jon Asamoah and Barry Richardson. The 2011 Chiefs didn’t win that game because they were a more talented team. They won it because they rallied around a new head coach that represented hope for the future. The 2018 Chiefs should keep that in mind.2. Beware the opportunistic defensePhoto by Justin K. Aller/Getty ImagesIf there’s one thing the Browns can do reasonably well, it’s play pass defense.Like the Chiefs, they are very good at making opposing quarterbacks inefficient — In fact, they’re better at it.The Browns lead the NFL in opposing quarterback passer rating. They haven’t done that by limiting passing yards; the Browns have given up 11.7 yards per catch, which is about average. They’ve done it by limiting passing touchdowns and maximizing interceptions. The Browns have given up just 11 passing touchdowns — tied for fourth-best in the league — and amassed a dozen interceptions, which tops the league. In short, if there’s one team in the league that might be able to keep Patrick Mahomes from lighting them up, it could be the Cleveland Browns. And Mahomes knows it.“Everywhere on their defense there’s talented players,” Mahomes said on Wednesday. “They have a great defensive line that can really rush the passer and they know how to get turnovers, I mean Authentic Mitch Morse Jersey , they go for the strips, they go for the interceptions. For us, it’s about staying within our game, playing the game we’ve been playing this entire season, not trying to force anything and just try to put some points on the board.”Mahomes was well-informed.The Browns have recovered 10 fumbles — again, tops in the league — which adds up to 22 turnovers through eight games.Roughly one in five opposing drives end in a turnover — which is third-best in the NFL.3. Beware the running gamePhoto by Peter Aiken/Getty ImagesFor both teams, establishing the run could be a big factor in this game.Neither team is good at defending the run — the Chiefs have given up a league-worst 5.4 yards per attempt, while the Browns are ranked fifth-worst at 4.6 — so both teams may see this as an offensive opportunity. But it will be tough for both teams to do that.At their best, neither team is particularly effective at run blocking, and the Chiefs — with backups at every interior position on the offensive line — will have to depend more on Kareem Hunt’s raw ability than they would probably prefer. The good news for the Chiefs is that Hunt has plenty of raw ability. If the Chiefs are going to establish a running game — which will keep the Browns at least honest defending against the pass —they’ll need as much of it as they can get.And maybe some Tyreek Hill or Sammy Watkins thrown in.4. Beware the Chiefs pass rushPhoto by David Eulitt/Getty ImagesHere’s a piece of good news: the Browns have given up 33 sacks so far. That’s worst in the league. So the Chiefs defense — now tied for second in the league with 24 — should find some opportunities to get home.Expect AFC Defensive Player of the Month Dee Ford to have a big game against the Browns.Whether Ford’s play this season is because he’s in a contract year or because he’s finally figured out how to be an effective pass rusher is an argument we can save for the offseason; for right now, the Chiefs need him to be effective. If Justin Houston ends up playing in this game, so much the better. And this time, defensive coordinator Bob Sutton can afford to blitz. For all the buzz about him, rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield hasn’t yet demonstrated an ability to make a defense pay for blitzing, so the Chiefs shouldn’t have to depend quite so much on the interior of the defensive line to bring pressure and rattle Mayfield. That said, don’t count out Chris Jones. The third-year player has had a sack in four consecutive games.5. Beware of Patrick MahomesPhoto by Peter Aiken/Getty ImagesMahomes has thrown four touchdown passes in three straight games. If he does it again on Sunday Youth Chris Conley Jersey , he’ll match Dan Marino’s streak of four in 1984.If he then does it against the Arizona Cardinals the following week, he’ll match Peyton Manning’s streak of five in 2004.If he gets that many against the Los Angeles Rams in Mexico City, he’ll have the longest streak ever — not just in the modern era, but in almost a century of league history. If that happens, let’s consider what else that could mean.Mahomes would have at least 38 touchdown passes through 11 games. That would put him on pace to exceed Tom Brady’s then-record 50 in 2007, and match Peyton Manning’s current record of 55 in 2013.For a second-year quarterback, this would an astonishing achievement.Of course... we’re not there yet.And as I noted before, the Browns defense could quite possibly give Mahomes his toughest test of the season. But if he puts up a big game against Cleveland on Sunday, what will stand in the way of Mahomes meeting or exceeding Brady and Manning’s records?Nothing I can see. It’s not just that Mahomes has a rocket launcher attached to his shoulder, and the ability to make plays outside the pocket. We knew that about him on the day he was drafted. It’s also that he’s developed so quickly.Read Kent Swanson’s film review about Mahomes from Thursday. To be sure, Mahomes is making mistakes. But he already has the poise and analytical ability of a five-year pro.The Browns defense might get the better of Mahomes on Sunday, and end his run at the four-touchdown-pass streak. But it won’t matter. Before he is finished, Mahomes will own all of Brady and Manning’s records. All we need to do is be sure we enjoy every minute of watching it happen.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes wasn’t made available to the media after Sunday’s 26-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals due to a family emergency—Mahomes’ longtime girlfriend Womens Anthony Hitchens Jersey , Brittany Matthews, lost her stepfather during the game.Chiefs head coach Andy Reid passed along his condolences on behalf of the organization on Monday. “Just a quick word on Patrick, on his girlfriend Brittany’s stepfather, Paul,” Reid said. “We’re sorry to hear about what took place [Sunday]. Our prayers and blessings are with the family. I’ve talked to Patrick Authentic Travis Kelce Jersey , and they’re doing well for the circumstance that took place. As they go through this mourning period, prayers and thoughts are with them.”Reid said the circumstances shouldn’t affect Mahomes’ preparation for the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. Mahomes was in the Chiefs’ facility on Monday morning.Editor’s note: The thoughts, prayers and sympathies of all of us here at Arrowhead Pride go out to Mahomes, Matthews and their families during this time.REPORT: Chiefs emerge as possible trade partner for safety Earl Thomas UPDATE (6:52 p.m. Arrowhead Time)AP lobbyist Peter Schrager added the following on the Seattle-Kansas City talks:It’s not often you see breaking news such as this on game day, but here we are.ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that disgruntled Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas could be traded Authentic Chris Jones Jersey , and the Kansas City Chiefs have emerged as a possible partner.Thomas, 29, is a five-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler who would be a welcomed addition to a Kansas City secondary that desperately needs the help. With Eric Berry continuing to be held out with a sore heel injury over the season’s first two weeks, this interest makes you wonder if perhaps the injury is a bit worse than expected. The Chiefs starters right now are Ron Parker and Eric Murray, with rookie Armani Watts and special teamer Jordan Lucas rounding out the depth. The Chiefs are hoping that Daniel Sorensen can return for the second half of the season. Thanks to the Marcus Peters trade Womens Sammy Watkins Jersey , the Chiefs have two 2019 second-rounders to play with. Could one be enough to acquire Thomas?
The Colts placed tight end Jack Doyle on injured reserve this week after he hurt his kidney in last Sunday’s win over the Dolphins and they had ruled three tight ends out of that game last week because of other injuries Authentic Anthony Walker Jersey , which left Eric Ebron looking like the last man standing at the position in Indianapolis. That is no longer the case on a couple of fronts. Ebron did not practice on Wednesday and the team listed him as out due to a back injury. Ebron has not missed any games this season and has forged a strong connection with Andrew Luck in their first season together.Ebron has 44 catches for 508 yards and 11 touchdowns, which matches the number of touchdowns he scored in his first four NFL seasons. While Ebron was out, the Colts did get Ryan Hewitt and Erik Swoope back on the field as limited participants. Mo Alie-Cox remained out with a calf injury.Another player with a strong connection to Luck also sat out on Wednesday. T.Y. Hilton did not practice and is listed with a groin injury a few days after catching seven passes for 125 yards. Hilton, who missed two games with chest and hamstring injuries earlier this year Youth Kenny Moore Jersey , leads the Colts in receptions and receiving yards. The Indianapolis Colts injury issues continue into Week 4 for their matchup with the Houston Texans. In the Colts first divisional game of the season they already knew they’d be without tight end Jack Doyle, left tackle Anthony Castonzo, tackle Joe Haeg (moved to IR), defensive tackle Hassan RIdgeway and cornerback Quincy Wilson. We saw how much Doyle might be missed last week in Philly http://www.coltsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-quenton-nelson-jersey , and the offensive line depth the Colts had initially this year feels as though it’s diminished. This is not a recipe for the first AFC South matchup of the year. The Colts final two inactive players today are Marlon Mack and Tarbell Basham. As for the Texans, they only had three players who were even at the ‘questionable’ designation for the day. DeAndre Hopkins, Shareece Wright and Kayvon Webster were three of seven players who were limited on their final practice of the week, but they were the ones bringing the questionable tag. Here are the Texans Week 4 inactives.

When the Patriots offense took the field in the first quarter Youth Shaq Lawson Jersey , Gordon was one of the 11 players on the field and he wound up playing 64-of-78 offensive snaps in the 25-6 victory. After the game, head coach Bill Belichick said he didn’t know anything about the report.eah, I donknow,” Belichick said, via NESN.com. “You have to ask whoever wrote that. Packers Injury Report: Aaron Rodgers practiced Thursday in positive step forward Tiger Woods and Aaron Rodgers have something in common: They’re back. After injuring his knee (are we even sure to this moment exactly what the injury is?) against the Chicago Bears Green Bay Packers Hats , Rodgers hasn’t been able to practice regularly during the week as he rehabs. The last two weeks, he only practiced Saturday during the Green Bay Packers’ traditional light session in final preparation for the game. Rodgers practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, but even that is a step in the right direction. Mike McCarthy spoke of the importance of having Rodgers at practice on Wednesday, so perhaps it’s no surprise to see QB1 on the practice field the very next day.Off-target throws, drops, and missed opportunities marred Green Bay’s Week 3 tilt with Washington, but the offense appeared to be close to breaking out. As McCarthy noted this week, it’s hard for an offense to get into a rhythm when its quarterback isn’t practicing. There’s no opportunity for growth. It’s fair to point to that lack of practice reps and wonder if it has affected the cohesion of this offense. McCarthy said it best when he pointed out if they didn’t think practice was important, they wouldn’t practice. So while Rodgers can play, and play well without practice Green Bay Packers Hoodie , it’s not as helpful to the team as if he were out there. Getting Rodgers back not only portends well for his injured knee, but potentially for this offense. Having him back in the mix for practice should help this offense get in a groove for a much-needed get right game against the Bills in Week 4.Here’s a look at the Packers’ full injury report on Thursday, which included one new name: Randall Cobb, who was limited with a hamstring issue. Meanwhile, two other players were upgraded from non-participants on Wednesday to limited participants on Thursday.Packers Thursday Injury ReportDid Not ParticipateG Justin McCray (shoulder)OLB Nick Perry (concussion)DL Muhammad Wilkerson (ankle)Limited ParticipationOT Bryan Bulaga (back)WR Randall Cobb (hamstring - was not listed on Wednesday)TE Jimmy Graham (knee - upgraded from DNP on Wednesday)S Josh Jones (ankle)CB Kevin King (groin - upgraded from DNP on Wednesday)QB Aaron Rodgers (ankle - upgraded from DNP on Wednesday) The Green Bay Packers’ safety group has been diminished by roster transactions in recent weeks, but injury struck the position once again in the first quarter against the Miami Dolphins. Starting third-year safety Kentrell Brice suffered an apparent left ankle injury on a tackle attempt, and he was carted off to the locker room. Brice has missed time in parts of a few different games this year, but he had started all nine games this season. It appears that this injury is probably a serious one, however.Josh Jones, who had been playing some dime linebacker Customized Green Bay Packers Jerseys , shifted back to take Brice’s place at safety for the remainder of the defensive series. That would lead to more snaps for Antonio Morrison or Oren Burks in the base defense. This also hurts a safety group that dressed just four safeties today: Brice, Jones, Tramon Williams, and Raven Greene. Ibraheim Campbell, who was acquired this week, was a gameday inactive.Brice is officially questionable to return at the moment, but that designation is likely pending a more official diagnosis of the injury. Stay tuned for more updates.UPDATE: Brice was ruled out of the game due to the injury after halftime.
yers to target Training camp is here! Before we get to draft season Authentic JK Scott Jersey , I wanted to go through the NFC North and look at players whom you might want to keep an eye on to see where their fantasy football value is trending. We’ve already looked at the Detroit Lions that you can check out here:Avoid these Detroit Lions players in your early draftsDetroit Lions players you should consider draftingThese players can either be trending towards fantasy relevance or complete irrelevance. This article addresses players who are in the latter group. We’ll look at three players from the Chicago Bears who should be targeted or worth taking a flier on. You can also check out who to consider avoiding from the Bears here. Fantasy season is just around the corner, and it’s time to start building those big boards.Jordan Howard, RBSomehow, I feel like Howard is being overlooked as a viable fantasy option. He’s not Alvin Kamara in the passing game (only 52 catches in two seasons), but he’s a low-floor prospect. Drafting Howard should be an obvious choice because he’s a starting running back who’s guaranteed to get rushing reps. His current ADP is hovering around pick 15, so easily a #2 back on your roster. In Howard’s rookie year, he had 252 carries that resulted in 1,313 yards on the ground and six touchdowns. That was also after just 13 starts at the position. So in his sophomore year, you have to think that momentum was building, right? Well, not when the Bears turned the reigns over to a rookie quarterback and we watched John Fox’ stale offense run Howard into the back of the offensive line over and over. With more run-pass options in Matt Nagy’s offense, hopefully that’ll open things up for Howard.Where Howard needs to improve from a fantasy point, is finding the end zone. Of course, that’s an issue the Bears offense had all last season. Howard had nine TDs last season, but if he wants to crack the top-10 in backs he’ll need to either crack 14 touchdowns on the ground or pick up the slack grabbing TDs through the air (0 receiving TDs in 2017). Tarik Cohen could be an impediment on Howard’s receiving stats, but at least you know Howard’s good for 1,000 yards rushing. Tarik Cohen Youth Antonio Morrison Jersey , RBSpeaking of Tarik Cohen, other than Mark Ingram, Cohen might be the best handcuff option in the league. Towards the end of last season, Cohen got more touches and capitalized on the opportunity. In a secondary role, he put together 370 yards on the ground and 353 through the air. Cohen might not be as explosive as Tyreek Hill was for Nagy in Kansas City, but the speedy back feels he’s faster than a 4.4 40. And I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Cohen lined up in the slot every so often while Howard is still positioned in the backfield. He also has kick return potential which helps his fantasy prospects. Cohen’s current ADP is in the seventh round (~pick 82) so the value here could be tremendous. You’ll have to monitor how he’s being utilized in summer practices and the preseason before you plug him in as a FLEX option, but keep an eye on him. Mitchell Trubisky, QBI’ve done my best to avoid the hyperbole of a young quarterback making that second-year leap a la Carson Wentz and Jared Goff. When I started writing about the fantasy value of Bears players this season, I even tried to make the case for not drafting Mitch Trubisky. And then I ended up talking myself into him instead. The case for Trubisky at least being a little bit better can be made exclusively with the addition of new head coach and offensive-mind, Matt Nagy and OC Mark Helfrich, who has experience working with athletic QBs. But the case for him being a lot better goes like this: Trubisky is free of the shackles of the stale John Fox offense that didn’t utilize his athleticism; Chicago will have competent, healthy weapons; and he will have the full support of the organization to start from week one. While he had some rough games last season against some solid defenses (three picks against the Lions, two against the Eagles), there were spurts of good quarterback play that you like to see out of a rookie. In Trubisky’s first preseason game last season, we saw glimpses of what we should see more of this season. Trubisky can make the short and intermediate throws with relative ease. His best plays during that scrimmage, though, came from when he’s moving outside the pocket and he just looks more comfortable delivering the passes on the move than standing in the pocket while the pressure comes in. In his first career start Kentrell Brice Jersey , Trubisky performed well against a team whose blitzes should induce nightmares for first-time NFL starters. Other than a terrible fourth-quarter interception, the throws were all there for Trubisky and the lack of receiver talent was noticeable. Trubisky made something out of nothing quite a few times, had a little luck on his first career TD pass, and showcased his athleticism on a trick two-point conversion. Again, the glimpses of being a starting-level QB are there. His deep ball needs to improve, but luckily that’s where the likes of Allen Robinson II, Taylor Gabriel, Trey Burton and rookie Anthony Miller will help make that look like less of a weakness. Miller averaged 15 YPC during his career at Memphis and looks like someone who can help make a slightly inaccurate deep pass look like it’s exactly where it’s supposed to be. In Robinson’s best year, he averaged 17.5 YPC as a pro and Gabriel’s 40 time is 4.27. Defenses will have a much more difficult time covering all these guys than the pass catchers the Bears trotted out last season.Trubisky’s draft position is hovering around the 14th round, pick 172. Place kickers are going ahead of him. So this is the perfect opportunity to take a flier on a backup QB that might be poised to have a breakout year.Packers Film Room: Davante Adams burns Malcolm Butler in preseason opener People take football very seriously. Sometimes too seriously. I’m here to change that one play at a time. For any plays you’d like me to discuss, tweet me at @farminvt.Hoooo boy! Davante Adams is BACK, baby!Back from what, you ask? Back from his honeymoon to Greece? Back to the future?Back from the offseason, I guess? Anyway, we’ve gleefully watched Adams progress from “he only catches screens from Derek Carr against crappy competition” to posterizing the Legion of Boom (RIP but not really).Adams reminded us how awesome he is last Thursday in the Green Bay Packers’ preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans by making a 48-yard gain look easier than a hot knife cutting through butter. Easier than predicting the Warriors will make the NBA finals. Easier than Roger Goodell making himself look like an idiot. An added bonus: the defender who was so embarrassed that he immediately forked over his $10 million signing bonus was none other than “Mr. Doesn’t Play in the Super Bowl Because , aka Malcolm Butler. In crappy soap-opera dramas, its always the butler who commits the crime. This butler’s crime? Getting that much money from Tennessee to be mediocre at your job.Woof.The play:Aaaaaand againBut in all seriousness http://www.packersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-david-bakhtiari-jersey , this was absolutely filthy. Wide receiver coaches everywhere jumped from their couches and started hailing Adams as their messiah.Let’s go step by step:Butler’s already a step behind here. Adams is pushing off his inside foot to go by Butler’s left shoulder before Butler has his inside foot planted.Oh just FYI, this next picture might be considered NSFW:Butler opened up his hips faster than...well, I’ll let you fill in that one.If you see a defensive back resorting to this move just to stay with his guy, it’s a sign he’s cooked.Adams is starting his sprint upfield, and Butler is having to rotate his body 180 degrees.I hope his insurance is good; the whiplash he got by watching Adams go by him is probably pretty expensive to get treated.Ho-hum. Just Adams getting a yard and a half of separation by his fifth step. I think I heard Adams tell Butler he’s slower than his Grandmother’s dial-up internet. Next.“Why did Hundley have to underthrow me so badly? Tell me, oh great one, why?”And lastly:A little handplay between the two of them; nothing major, just enough for Adams to get that last second separation.Adams had so much time by himself he got bored, thought of a cool handshake, slowed down to show Butler the handshake, and at the last second decided he’d rather make the catch.I guess the world will never know what could have been. One last look, in slow motion:That’s it for this week - remember to enjoy yourself, and stay weird.
with win over Minnesota Vikings Not only did the Buffalo Bills (1-2) pull off this season’s biggest upset when they traveled to the reigning NFC North champion Minnesota Vikings and won Youth Ryan Groy Jersey , 27-6 on Sunday, the Bills also avoided dropping their first three games, a fate that normally guarantees a non-playoff season. Since the NFL expanded to 32 teams and instituted the current playoff format in 2002, only 11 percent of teams that started the season 0-2 went on to make the playoffs. If you expand that to an 0-3 start? The odds get worse. Much worse. Had Buffalo—which entered as a 16.5-point underdog in Minnesota — done what most pundits predicted and fell to the powerhouse Vikings, the Bills would have been 0-3 and facing a tough Week 4 road trip to Lambeau Field for a date with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Since the 1980 season, according to Oddsshark.com, there have been 173 teams that dropped their first three games of the season. Of those, only five rebounded to make the playoffs, which comes out to 2.8 percent! There were 52 teams that dropped their first three games between 2007 and 2017, and none of those squads managed to make the playoffs. Of course, the Bills do have experience starting a season 0-3, only to qualify for the postseason. Back in 1998 Authentic Zay Jones Jersey , under Rob Johnson, the Bills lost their first three games—with all three losses coming by six points or less. Doug Flutie relieved an injured Johnson for Week 6 and proceeded to guide Buffalo to eight wins in its next 11 games, and the Bills qualified for the playoffs as a Wild Card entrant with a 10-6 record. Last year, five teams dropped their first three games, and only one, the Los Angeles Chargers, finished above .500. The Chargers actually went one step further, falling to 0-4 before rallying for a 9-7 record. With their historic upset win on Sunday, the Bills remain alive to join the 11 percent of teams that, from 2007 to 2017 started off 0-2, make the playoffs. That list includes: the 2007 Super Bowl champion New York Giants, the 2008 Miami Dolphins Womens Marcus Murphy Jersey , the 2008 Vikings, the 2008 Chargers, the 2013 Carolina Panthers, the 2014 Indianapolis Colts, the 2015 Seattle Seahawks, 2015 Houston Texans, 2016 Dolphins, and 2017 New Orleans Saints. The Buffalo Bills stay at home this week to host the Chicago Bears. The Bears are looking to maintain their hold of first place in the NFC North. The Bills are merely looking to make it two weeks in a row of competitive games. Here’s three headlines for the game. Nathan Peterman is back With Josh Allen and Derek Anderson both injured, the Bills will once again turn to Nathan Peterman to lead the offense. He’s played in three games for the Bills this season. In those appearances he’s tallied a 40.63 completion percentage, one touchdown, four interceptions, and -1.63 adjusted yards per attempt.Terrelle Pryor’s first game as a BillThe Bills bolstered their offense this week by signing free agent wide receiver Terrelle Pryor. He appeared in six games for the New York Jets this season before suffering a groin injury and being released. His stats in those six games: 14 catches Youth Marcus Murphy Jersey , 235 yards, and two touchdowns. That puts his production right in the mix with the Bills’ pass catchers. Khalil Mack injuredThe University at Buffalo product missed Chicago’s last game against the Jets due to an ankle injury. Bears head coach Matt Nagy stated on Wednesday that Mack remains on the same practice schedule that he was on prior to the Jets game. Given that, and the state of Buffalo’s offense, it is unlikely Buffalo Bulls fans will get to see their former star on the field Sunday. This may disappoint UB fans, but Nathan Peterman and the rest of the Bills’ offense would enjoy facing a slightly diminished Bears defense. Update: The original version of this article mistakenly stated that Peterman had an average yards per attempt of -1.63. In reality, he has an adjusted yards per attempt of -1.63. Thank you, wallyvoodoo, for pointing out the error. The error has been corrected.

Well, there’s a lot to talk about in such a condensed week Indianapolis Colts Hoodie , especially on the Indianapolis Colts side of the equation. The team’s injury report is pretty insane. The Colts actually already have 7 inactives for the game and only 52 on the roster less than 24 hours before game time.On one end, it’s a plus-minus situation weekly any more and with only having four days between games, this isn’t the ideal point in the season to face the Patriots by any means. Throughout the years and particularly this preseason http://www.authenticskansascitychiefs.com/cheap-laurent-duvernay-tardif-jersey , the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line has often been a subject of controversy and ire. The Chiefs have made strides along the offensive line by adding and developing first-overall pick Eric Fisher, drafting second-round pick Mitch Morse, developing a top-tier right guard in Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and acquiring top-tier right tackle Mitchell Schwartz but have always left the remaining guard spot up for grabs for someone to show up and take. Traditionally, in football, having a single weakness along the line is not a killer, unless that player ends up being so bad they can’t even slow down an opponent (see Mike McGlynn). Last year, the Chiefs offensive line was just above average in most overall rankings despite below average guard play from Bryan Witzmann. The man, the myth, the Witzmann.Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY SportsGoing into this year, left guard appeared to be the biggest position battle on the docket: Witzmann vs Parker Ehinger. In the process of working these guys into the lineup, the Chiefs decided that Erving is part of Andy Reid’s patented “best five.” Since games have been played, this move has come under even more scrutiny, as Erving has showed plenty of flashes of being close to McGlynn-level bad, especially in pass protection. Adding some fuel to the fire, Duvernay-Tardif suffered a concussion towards the end of training camp and has missed the last two preseason games. The Chiefs have trotted out Andrew Wylie, a late 2017 practice squad signee, in his place. In Wylie’s reps with the starters the past two weeks, the Chiefs have likely reached two conclusions:He has beaten out Witzmann and Ehinger as the sixth offensive linemanMany are wondering about his potential as a starting left guard in place of ErvingThat leaves us in the basement of Arrowhead Pride headquarters sitting in The Lab breaking down the tape of undrafted second-year utility offensive lineman Andrew Wylie.Offensive lineman Andrew WylieThe first thing you notice with Wylie when the tape pops on is that he’s an easy mover in pretty much every aspect. He has the hip flexibility to reach blockers and then flip around them, the explosion forward to the second level as well as backward to pull around the edge and the lateral movement to mirror rushers trying to go around him. This should come as no surprise, as Wylie’s Pro Day was quite impressive and he is an offensive lineman playing for Andy Reid after all.ExplosionWylie starts off the snap here with a combo block to allow Mitchell Schwartz to get the defensive tackle and then immediately explodes up to the second level to get the linebacker coming into the A-gap. He ends up pushing the linebacker directly into the gap. Hunt runs into it, and it was more of a mistake by Hunt than Wylie doing anything incorrectly. The ability to quickly work a combo block White Xavier Williams Jersey , then get into second-level players is going to be paramount to the Chiefs’ rushing attack this year, especially if Eric Bieniemy is going to continue to sprinkle in a few more power running plays. Wylie’s athleticism doesn’t stop with the run game, either. Like some other guards on the Chiefs roster, he’s still a fluid mover going backward and laterally. Lateral movementYou want to see Wylie get a little more depth with his initial drive-catch phase here. He covers almost no ground, but part of that is his reliance on quick setting as well. After the initial step, Wylie takes a quick 45-degree angle set to get out wide in case the defensive end tries to split him and Schwartz. That kind of backward explosion is what should be happening on his first step as opposed to the second step so often, but that should also come with more experience. After he recognizes the defensive end is going into Schwartz’s gap, Wylie quickly works back across his gap to help with the nose tackle that got knocked his direction. He doesn’t have to actually do anything, but the quick recovery and flipping his hips to get back to the other side of his gap in two steps was impressive. The movement skills of Wylie are great but also nearly a given for any Reid offensive lineman. What makes Wylie intriguing is that he certainly plays with a little bit of a mean streak and has some good power throughout his entire body. PowerThis play starts with a quick set by Wylie and a solid two-hand punch that slows the defender’s momentum out of his stance. Unfortunately, Wylie’s outside hand landed a little high and the defender takes control/leverage on that outside shoulder and forces him into opening his outside hip while trying to maintain his balance. Rather than just trying to run the rusher up the arc to the outside, Wylie shows fantastic core strength and a great recovery to stonewall the defender right there. As he is being forced to open his hips, Wylie is able to take another step back with his outside foot while bending laterally at his hips to get his outside hand back underneath and on the outside rib cage of the defender. This inside, low punch reestablishes outside control, forcing the defender to work back through Wylie. It also gives Wylie the leverage, as the defender is now standing straight up, allowing Wylie to re-square his hips/butt to the quarterback for a cleaner pocket. The anti-rotational strength displayed despite losing outside leverage quickly but being able to recover is a very impressive ability in Wylie. These have all been relatively raw traits with some skilled nuances sprinkled in, but, for the most part, that is what Wylie is at this point in time. It’s showing that he’s still mastering the craft of being a complete lineman.BalanceThis is concern No. 1A (I’ll get back to this) for Wylie right now, and it’s simply his lack of a solid base and good foundation going into his engagements. Whether in space or shooting off the line of scrimmage, Wylie is often lunging into contact rather than rolling his hips underneath him. This can lead to plays like this Sammy Watkins Jersey , in which a defender simply slides laterally out of Wylie’s path. If Wylie can’t get his hands on them in the process, he stumbles forward or falls to the ground. There have been a few other plays where in which actually gets good hand placement and initial push with this same lunging technique, but what often happens there is a defender eventually anchors and spins/twists Wylie off of his body because he’s playing with his hips so far behind him. Wylie is a pretty decent athlete, so despite approaching his space blocks the same way, he often at least makes some form of contact. But with his hips out behind him, he tends to shove the defender rather than locking on and driving him. VersatilityIf the above was problem 1A for Wylie, this is problem 1B. He’s predictable in his pass sets.Nearly every single pass set he takes is a quick set with a two-hand punch if he has a rusher in his gap or the Chiefs are blocking with a man protection. He, but not on this snap, can move his feet backward and laterally to stay in position, but his initial set is almost always a quick set with little depth, and he tries to get his hands on someone early. He needs to use some single-hand stabs, a little catch technique with his hands or just about anything else so he can mix up his sets and become less predictable. Should he start? At this point, everything we’ve seen from Wylie should at least give us the confidence that he wouldn’t be any worse than Witzmann, who started at left guard last year. Wylie is still an incredibly raw player, so there is also a higher ceiling to be had from what we saw last year. If we were looking at this position battle as of last year, Wylie should have been the easy choice to get starting reps along the offensive line. This year, however, Erving seems to have the trust of the coaching staff and appears to have a grip on the starting role. When comparing the players directly, they have a lot of similarities in that their raw traits are pretty good, but their skills are rather unrefined and can generate some bad losses far too often. Between the two of them, Wylie seems to have his bad losses come in one specific way and a little less frequently. This should be an open competition between the two going forward based on the caliber of play that we’ve seen thus far Authentic nthony Hitchens Jersey , but Erving likely holds the small edge simply because he has more tools to his tool belt. Wylie has shown a ton of promise, but he’s a little static in his approach in both the run and passing game right now. He’s not bad, and if he’s forced into starting reps, it wouldn’t be the end of the world, but right now, he’s a bit too one-dimensional in his approach to each snap to get the full endorsement over a veteran player. Looking forward to 2019, however, Wylie could very much be in play as a starting offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs, bordering even on a favorite.Pundit power rankings for Week 3: Chiefs break the top five National pundits took note when the Kansas City Chiefs knocked off the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road for the first time since 1986, moving the Chiefs up to the third spot in our aggregated power rankings, and dropping the Steelers out of the top 10.Pundit Power Rankings for Week 3Chiefs AFC West Teams Other AFC TeamsHere's what the pundits had to say about the Chiefs this week:ESPN (3rd from 6th)NFL.com (Elliot Harrison - 4th from 11th)SBNation (Rebecca Toback - 3rd from 7th)Sporting News (Vinnie Iyer - 3rd from 8th)Yahoo! om. To say “Cowboys defense as responsible for Amari Cooper trade as anything” seems a little absurd on the face. To be sure Authentic Zack Martin Jersey , if the Cowboys offense wasn’t so abysmal, especially on the road, then Dallas wouldn’t have considered trading for Cooper. And it’s also true that the Cowboys want to have a fair and full evaluation of Dak Prescott, and without a weapon to complement Cole Beasley in the passing game, a consistent weapon, they probably felt they really couldn’t do that. So we can say, without hesitation, that the Cowboys offense was a big part of the reason the trade went through. So how does the defense play into this equation? Well, the Cowboys would have been unlikely to part with a first-round pick now unless they thought they were still a viable factor in the 2018 playoffs. They would have played out the string Authentic Tyron Smith Jersey , saved that first-round pick and tried to build something in 2019 for Dak Prescott and take their chances. Instead, they went all in. And they went all in because they have a defense that is among the top units in the league, at least in some categories, and they are keeping this team in the playoff hunt. If the Cowboys can just muster up a decent offense, they have a future in the 2018 season. All of that is possible through the play of this defense. Whether you are a believer in conventional stats, volume stats, or advanced stats, when it comes to defense there is one number that reigns supreme. That is points allowed. The Cowboys are almost halfway through the season and they are second in the league in points allowed at 17.6 points per game. If your defense is keeping opposing offenses under 18 points a game, any offense of even average ability should make you competitive and a playoff contender. Only four offenses in the league score under 18 points per game Womens Maliek Collins Jersey , and surprisingly Dallas is not one of them. The 40-point explosion against Jacksonville moved them to 20 points scored per game, good for 26th in the league. The Cowboys defense isn’t a creator of big splash plays. They only have six turnovers on the year (two interceptions and four fumble recoveries) and that is tied for 24th in the league. So they don’t exactly win on turnovers, and that is one area that actually hurts the offense because they aren’t providing short fields. They are a very average defense on third downs, ranking 16th in the NFL with an allowed rate of 39.4%. They do a good job of making defenses earn those first downs on third down though, because while they are average on third down overall, they are third in the league by only allowing an average of 17.6 first downs per game. What they are very good at is limiting overall yardage (third in the league with 313.7 yards per game), yards per play (fourth in the league at 5.1 yards per play), and they really excel in the redzone. Dallas is second in the NFL by allowing touchdowns in the redzone at a rate of 36.84%, only behind their next opponent http://www.dallascowboysteamonline.com/la_el-collins-jersey , Tennessee. Over their last three games, they have allowed redzone touchdowns at an astonishingly low 12.5% rate. The Cowboys defense is really limiting what offenses can accomplish against them. They could be even better by improving in some areas. They could help the offense, as mentioned above, by creating more turnovers. Along with that, their sack rate is slowing. They are still tied for eighth in the league with 19, but it hasn’t been as big a part of their game in recent weeks. They only have five sacks over the last three games. Incredibly, they are achieving all of this on defensewhile still allowing high passer ratings for opposing quarterbacks (26th in the league). There are things the Cowboys defense does very well, and things they need to improve on. With their front seven as healthy as it’s been in a long time, and Chidobe Awuzie recovering from his ankle issues Youth Sean Lee Jersey , the unit as a whole might just be getting started. A healthy and in-football-shape David Irving should help enormously. The defense has kept the Cowboys season alive. They are the reason they are even in contention in a very average NFC East. There is still over half a season to be played and there is no doubt that the Cowboys still have a shot. Now they have added a weapon on offense in Amari Cooper, and the reason they did is because their defense has kept them alive. When the Dallas Cowboys drafted Leighton Vander Esch with their first-round selection back in April there were many who questioned the move.Nine games into the season, the Cowboys look like geniuses. Vander Esch has continued to impress week after week and put on the finest performance of his young career during last week’s win in Philadelphia. It was such a top-notch game by LVE that he’s been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week! There were some outstanding moments for Vander Esch in the first road win of the season for the Cowboys. He recorded his first interception of the season and made arguably the play of the game when he tackled Corey Clement on a critical 3rd and 2 that forced the Eagles to lose five yards where they would ultimately be unsuccessful in converting.Of all the players of the week for last week in the NFL, Vander Esch is the only rookie. In fact, as the mothership notes, Vander Esch is the first Dallas Cowboys rookie to win DPOW since Sean Lee did back in 2010. The General hauled in the honor after the Cowboys visited Indianapolis where just like Vander Esch did in Philadelphia, Sean recorded the first (and second) interception of his career. The Cowboys look like they have one of the next star linebackers on their hands. They also have Jaylon Smith playing right next to him. The future looks bright in the middle of the defense. Congratulations to Leighton Vander Esch!
Cole Beasley Womens Joe Looney Jersey , Scott Linehan seem to indicate that Dak Prescott needs to trust his arm and receivers Are you ready for another take on the Cowboys offensive woes? In fact, this take suggests that a lot of outside analysis has been wrong.Cole Beasley dropped these comments about the Cowboys receiving corps and their performance so far on the 2018 season. To some extent, Beasley is right. I have watched the game tape for each performance by the Cowboys in 2018, specifically focusing in on the offense. There have been opportunities in the passing game that are not being exploited. Beasley’s comments suggest it’s happening all the time, which would be somewhat of an exaggeration, but his underlying point holds - the receivers are creating opportunities. He even mentions the “s” word, a buzz word for the Cowboys ever since the offseason. There it is - separation. That’s been the key word applied to the Cowboys receiving corps and a big reason for the revamp this offseason. The natural logic that would follow this goes something like: if the receivers are getting open, then the problem must be with the quarterback. Beasley tries to cover for that, but there is some implied finger-pointing here, no matter how much Beasley tries to be the good teammate and not go there. So following the logic chain of “a lot of variables” there are only really two here. Either Dak Prescott is not seeing or throwing accurately to the receivers, or the offensive line is failing to provide protection. In the Cowboys case, there is a little of both. We’ve documented the problems the Cowboys offensive line is having, but they aren’t the sole source of the problem. Scott Linehan adds another piece to the puzzle with his recent comment. He doesn’t come out and say it, but he seems to imply the same thing Beasley is getting at, Prescott needs to trust his arm Youth Kavon Frazier Jersey , and his receivers, and “sling it.”If you have watched the game tape (the All-22 version), you would likely come to similar conclusions. For whatever reason, Prescott is not trusting himself to throw it deep or intermediate. There are times you can see him looking at a receiver, who by NFL standards is most definitely open, and not pulling the trigger. Other times, you can see a receiver will be open once he makes his break, but Prescott is not trusting that situation and so he doesn’t attempt the throw. Prescott is the anti-gunslinger in 2018. He wants to protect the ball at all costs and will take the checkdown all too often, even to the team’s detriment. He’s not trusting his arm or the receivers and just slinging it.Those who think that Prescott’s and Linehan’s comments yesterday about slinging it meant that the game plan is to come out and throw 50 times against the Lions (who have the top pass defense and the worst run defense), are likely misinterpreting what they are saying. More likely what they mean, and it’s the logic that runs through all of this, is that when the opportunity is there, Prescott must sling it, he must trust himself and let the ball go. Obviously there are things that Linehan can do to help Prescott. As has been noted in other places, most notably an article in The Ringer, Dallas should start incorporating more play-action into the play-calls. Prescott seems to get a better rhythm on these Youth Jaylon Smith Jersey , and the play-action, especially with Ezekiel Elliott rounding into form, will slow the pass rush and help fool the coverage. The other thing Linehan needs to do is increase the amount of stack/bunch formations to give the receivers cleaner releases, and combine that with rub routes to open things for yards after the catch. Prescott’s natural tendency is to throw short, so give him some opportunities to hit guys and let them run after the catch. The Cowboys most effective play in the passing game so far seems to be slant/crossing routes to Beasley, let’s get more guys involved in that and get more confusion in the coverage in hopes of breaking some of those into big plays with yards after catch. If you want to criticize Linehan for the offensive woes, this is probably the area that rings the most true, he needs to alter his vertical passing routes concepts and incorporate some of these types of plays. The offensive line needs to block better, Linehan needs to throw in some new stuff to accommodate Prescott and put defenses off the scent, but in the end Prescott needs to trust himself and his receivers. There’s a joke that says in the NFL if you’re single-covered, you’re open. That’s an exaggeration, but what it implies is that NFL receivers should beat single coverage enough times that the quarterbacks have to trust their receivers. They have to sometimes throw before the receiver makes his break and trust he’ll be there. The quarterback has to take some chances and trust that his receiver will make them pay off even with a defender nearby. The Cowboys don’t need to sling it 50 times a game, but when the chances are there, Prescott most definitely needs to sling it.Cowboys Poll: Who do you blame for the disappointing offense? The Cowboys’ season opener in Carolina came and went, and Dallas left the field with a 16-8 loss. The main talking point around the game was how terrible the Cowboys’ offense was. Naturally, the losses of Dez Bryant and Jason Witten were expected to present an adjustment period for the passing game Womens Chidobe Awuzie Jersey , and Travis Frederick’s absence leaves a big, bearded hole in the offensive line no matter how well Joe Looney may have played. The Cowboys still have a lot of offensive weapons, though, the biggest being Ezekiel Elliott. He only carried the ball 15 times and got 69 yards off of it, with a touchdown on a well-executed speed option play. Dak Prescott, who spent most of the summer refining his footwork and mechanics as this offense was reshaped to become more “Dak-friendly,” struggled mightily. When he didn’t have defenders breathing down his neck (he was sacked six times) he was under-throwing receivers or not picking out the open receivers. He averaged 5.9 yards per pass attempt and failed to score aside from his scramble for a two-point conversion. From a play-calling perspective, offensive coordinator Scott Linehan started things off with a very diverse selection of plays: screens, bootlegs, split zones, and much more. The problem was that most of it didn’t work, or that the plays were negated by penalties. Things started picking up later on when Linehan began calling more conservative and traditional types of plays, but also when he started to spread the Carolina defense out. Nevertheless, an offense with so much potential was limited to eight points and 232 total yards of offense. So we ask the question:
possession of first place in the NFC East Sunday afternoon. But this team has yet to figure out how to play well on the road Dallas Cowboys Womens Hoodie , with yet another sloppy, mistake-filled performance that left fans frustrated and the team under .500 seven games into the 2018 season. Let’s go to the grades. OVERALL: C-Looking at the final stats you’d think Dallas played better than they did. They out-gained the Redskins 323 to 305. Quarterback Dak Prescott recorded a 96.8 quarterback rating while throwing for 273 yards on 35 attempts. The defense surrendered only 13 points and just over 300 yards. But the reality is Dallas was dominated in the trenches from opening whistle to final gun. The team managed only 73 rushing yards and only 33 from Ezekiel Elliott. There were numerous penalties (each seemingly more costly than the previous) and two turnovers. The defense meanwhile made virtually no high impact plays. There was only one sack (for a measly three yards), only thee additional QB pressures, only one pass defensed and three tackles for loss. The special teams also had a poor day, contributing to the general sloppiness. It’s the kind of overall road performance we’ve become accustomed to this year and it’s getting old. COACHING: DCoach Jason Garrett has failed to field a quality team on the road and one has to ask why there’s such a huge difference between how this team performs on the road and at home. Yet again the team was sloppy from the outset. The first drive was doomed by one of four major offensive line penalties. Then Chris Jones shanked a punt for only 33 yards. Then the defense gave up an easy 52-yard touchdown drive. In short, all three phases of the game played badly early, putting the team behind from the get-go. This seems to happen every week when the team leaves AT&T Stadium. Dallas has trailed by a combined 50-9 in their four road games and have failed to overcome the deficit every time. Garrett seems to have no answers for why his team continually makes mistakes and falls behind in these road games. And of course we had yet another instance where Garrett’s conservative nature cost the Cowboys. Garret effectively “gave up” when team had a first down from the Redskins’ 31-yard line with 12 seconds and a time-out remaining. Garrett could have chose to run a play to get ten yards or so closer for a field goal attempt. Or, as he probably should have, he could have taken a shot at the end zone to win the game. Instead, he predictably chose the least aggressive approach and had Elliott run up the middle for yet another 2-yard run. This set up a 47-yard field goal when it could have been shorter. Tony Romo’s thoughts:Garrett has botched end-of-game situation like this repeatedly throughout his career and seems to never learn anything from such failures. QUARTERBACK: C-On the one hand, Dak Prescott threw for 277 yards and compiled a 96 passer rating. He also added 33 yards rushing and scored a rushing touchdown for the second consecutive week. He played tough despite being under constant heavy pressure and taking a vicious hit to the head the put him into the concussion protocol. He was also betrayed (yet again) by his receivers, who dropped three balls. On the other hand, he again missed plays that were available, either not seeing open receivers or refusing to take shots in those situations. But it was his two turnovers that really changed the game. First he bizarrely fumbled on a successful fourth-down quarterback sneak, ending one drive. Then he committed a cardinal sin late in the fourth quarter. Facing a 3rd-and-14 from his own ten while down three with just over six minutes remaining Prescott made three bad mistakes on the same play. First, he held the ball too long; he had plenty of opportunity to throw the ball away and avoid a bad play. Second, he seemed to lose track of where he was and turned backwards into the end zone when pressured, creating a safety opportunity. Third, he then fumbled the ball, giving the Redskins an easy, gimme touchdown. It was a truly horrible play in every way and a play that a third-year NFL quarterback absolutely cannot make. The play pretty much undermined all the good Prescott did during the rest of the game. OFFENSIVE LINE: FThe numbers tell the story:Four sacksThree holding penalties and a chop block penalty2.2 yards per run for Ezekiel ElliottElliott’s rushing chart reveals the ineptitude:Tyron Smith looks nothing like the best left tackle in the NFL; he was repeatedly beaten off the edge by speed rushes. Connor Williams continues to struggle with power rushers and bull rushes. La’el Collins plays inconsistently. This unit Womens Customized Dallas Cowboys Jerseys , which is the highest paid (by a wide margin) in the NFL, and has eaten up massive draft capital and salary cap, is a failure at this point. The team is built around the offensive line and the Cowboys need elite play from it. Instead, especially on the road, the unit is mediocre to downright bad. It’s actually remarkable that Dallas managed nearly 330 yards and scored 17 points considering how bad the offensive line played. Needless to say, if it doesn’t improve significantly and quickly this season will soon be over. RUNNING BACK: BEzekiel Elliott had no chance Sunday. He was constantly swarmed and had no running lanes. He was also given few chances in the passing game (though he did have a potential touchdown pass bounce off his helmet). It’s hard to really judge Elliott because he simply didn’t have any opportunity against the Redskins. TIGHT ENDS: C-The offensive lineman weren’t the only ones who struggled to block in the running game. The tight ends constantly seemed to be pushed five yards into the backfield on running plays. They also contributed very little in the passing game. Geoff Swaim had his customary one good play (though it looked like he might have injured his knee on the play). Blake Jarwin finally made a play, making a catch to convert a 4th-and-13. Rico Gathers got one target but got tangled up with a defender as the ball approached. Otherwise, the four tight ends were invisible when they weren’t being pushed around. WIDE RECEIVERS: B-There was some good. Cole Beasley had seven catches on eight targets, including a big-time catch on the team’s fourth quarter touchdown drive. He also contributed what appeared to be a huge third-down conversion that was negated by a Connor Williams holding (followed immediately by Prescott’s disastrous end zone fumble). Michael Gallup had three catches for 81 yards, including a mammoth 49-yard touchdown to get the Cowboys on the board late in the first half (Gallup used a beautiful stop-and-go to give Prescott a wide open target). But Hurns also had a drop and Deonte Thompson added yet another drop (I feel like he has more drops than catches on the year). The wide receivers seem to suffer from whatever else ails the team on the road as they have had multiple drops in every road game.DEFENSIVE LINE: C-The Redskins were missing multiple weapons on offense yet continually pushed the Dallas front four around. Alex Smith was sacked only once and was officially hurried only three other times. He had time to make plays all day. The Redskins also ran at will on the Cowboys defensive lineman. Demarcus Lawrence did have three tackles for loss, including two in a clutch red-zone stop. But Tyrone Crawford, David Irving, Randy Gregory and Taco Charlton combined for seven tackles, no sacks, one tackle for loss and one QB hurry. I honestly don’t remember anyone making any plays other than Lawrence (and the one Irving sack).LINEBACKERS: C+Sean Lee returned and made several Seen Lee plays. Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch, however, didn’t seem to make as many plays as they have recently. The trio combined to record 16 tackles but many were downfield, they recorded only a single tackle for loss and made no noteworthy plays beyond the few from Sean Lee. SECONDARY: B+The game started with the defense’s biggest weakness, a long touchdown pass. However, this time it came on a short screen where Kavon Frazier had an opportunity to blow the playbut couldn’t make the tackle. Otherwise the secondary held up pretty well. Despite an effective running game and virtually no pressure on Alex Smith, the Redskins passed for only 178 yards. Byron Jones and Chidobi Awuzie give the team the stickiest corners the team has had in many years. They gave up a few contested plays but otherwise were strong. SPECIAL TEAMS: DWhen an NFL game is as close as this one was www.cowboyscheapauthenticstore.com , special teams often is the difference between winning and losing. Thus, the team couldn’t afford the poor play they received Sunday. First punter Chris Jones just had a bad day. He shanked his first kick of the game (33 yards). He later kicked only 36 yards to the Redskins’ 34. And his longest kick (52 yards) went into the end zone for a 32-yard net. Jones’ poor punting contributed to the Redskins’ enjoying a huge edge in average starting position (34 to 21). And of course we had the fiasco on the last play of the game. First, L.P. Ladouceur was called for a snap infraction. The penalty pushed Brett Maher’s game-tying attempt back five yards to a 52-yard kick, Maher, of course, bounced the kick off the upright for his first miss in 16 attempts.Side note: I have never heard of this penalty and based on Twitter reactions no one else has either. In addition, video shows L.P. does pretty much the same thing he did on the penalized play every other time the team kicks. This was a bogus call. And it’s yet another in the long pantheon of questionable, obscure penalties being called against the Cowboys in key moments. These were small mistakes but they added to the generally sloppy, mistake-riddled play that has become a constant for this team when they go on the road. The NFL has fined Tampa Bay safety Jordan Whitehead $26,739 for unnecessary roughness against Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. The league had said Friday that Whitehead should have been penalized for striking Mayfield in the side of the helmet during last Sunday's 26-23 overtime win for Tampa Bay.Mayfield was sliding at the end of a 35-yard scramble when he got hit by Whitehead, who was initially penalized before the officials conferred and decided to pick up the flag — and one against Mayfield for taunting.First-year referee Shawn Hochuli made the situation worse by incorrectly announcing Mayfield "was still a runner and therefore is allowed to be hit in the head."Panthers safety Eric Reid was fined $10,026 for unnecessary roughness for his hit on Eagles tight end Zach Ertz in Carolina's 21-17 win. Also fined:—Bengals safety Shawn Williams, $20,054 for unnecessary roughness for a helmet-to-helmet hit against the Chiefs. Williams also fined $10,026 for a Week 1 hit on Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.—Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert, $10,026 for a chop block.—Cowboys guard Connor Williams, $10,026 for a chop block.
due to a bad snap on their own goal line and a fumble forced by J.J. Watt on a strip sack White Skai Moore Jersey , it isn’t surprising to see Indianapolis run a pass heavy offensive attack for much of the afternoon. There were 62 passing attempts and 65 passing drop backs as Andrew Luck scrambled on broken passing plays on 3 occasions. To say that this is tasking your offensive line with a challenge would be an understatement. It was quite clear for the Texans that getting to Andrew Luck was the primary assignment and they were able to spend much of the day with their speed lineup in the game to throw numerous looks at a banged up Colts offensive line. The good news is that allowing 4 sacks on 65 passing attempts isn’t awful and that one Jadeveon Clowney speed rush landing against Le’Raven Clark and two J.J. Watt sacks against Denzelle Good isn’t stunning either. Those sacks came in the first half, with the final one in overtime. Unfortunately for the Colts, in their bid for an AFC South win, the sack in OT came at about as bad a time as it could. Unfortunately for rookie Quenton Nelson, the sack came through him.We will break down 9 of the 65 passing drop backs today with an emphasis primarily on Nelson’s biggest signs of struggle. We have three plays displaying some of the positive attributes we’ve seen before. The 56 other passing snaps saw Nelson either win, not allow a pressure or did not see his assignment have a meaningful influence on the play. While we will get to the Jadeveon Clowney (#90) sack that put the Colts into a difficult position in overtime, I spent my initial viewing of the film looking for examples of Clowney isolating Quenton Nelson (#56). There were only two examples in the entire game. This play occurred in the first quarter.Clowney stunts to the inside on this play, as he will in overtime, and gets a powerful running start into Nelson. Nelson is thrown backward but manages to anchor and keep his hips between Clowney and the pocket. He releases the block quick enough to not get called for a holding penalty as Luck escaped to his right. It is reasonable to note that Nelson’s ability to take Clowney’s best shot and keep his anchor is impressive. It is reasonable to say that overall he did what he needed to do to keep pressure away from Luck. It is also reasonable to say that Clowney tested him in their first face-to-face on field meeting.Over an hour later Jordan Wilkins Jersey , in overtime, this is Clowney’s second stunt into Nelson’s face. This time, Nelson is too committed to Whitney Mercilus (#59) and is sluggish in passing him off to Le’Raven Clark. He has only one leg in the dirt when Clowney chucks him and is unable to anchor. Once he loses at initial contact the play is essentially over. Credit Houston’s defense for coming back to something that worked when they needed it most. Nelson had been dealing primarily with Mercilus and interior defensive linemen all day and got caught off-balance by one of the more powerful pass rushers in the NFL.There were other snaps where Nelson had some difficulty maintaining his block. Here he is beat to his inside shoulder. His initial zone step left, which is mirrored by Ryan Kelly to his inside, was window-dressing to sell the play-action to Nyheim Hines. Unfortunately for Nelson, it took him directly out of position for Mercilus and allowed pressure in Luck’s face. This was a quick release play-action passing concept so there isn’t a hit on Luck here but it is an example of a play where pressure comes through his gap. One attribute we’ve been able to identify in Nelson’s game is that he struggles with lateral movement in space. He comes to his right to get in front of nose tackle Brandon Dunn (#92) but ends up on an island. He has to commit so hard to his right to get into position that he realizes he is vulnerable to a move left. Dunn jukes to that side and gets Nelson to recover. By the time Nelson realizes that Dunn’s move is false, it is too late and he comes into Luck’s face. Whether this had an impact on Luck’s throw being a little high to Eric Ebron isn’t entirely clear. Dunn still doesn’t get a QB hit but he certainly is in a position to impact the play. This is another example of Nelson not immediately engaging with a defender. If he is standing alone in space with Mercilus in front of him, he will get eaten alive by lateral moves. He does well to keep his balance initially but the club rip move to Nelson’s left leaves him exposed. Mercilus has a lane between Nelson and Clark to the quarterback and Luck has to get rid of the pass under pressure — his pass is inaccurate and is behind Chester Rogers. The final play that shows Nelson in a difficult position is in the middle of a lot of traffic on the left side of the offensive line. He initially blocks Mercilus but is off-balance when he passes the block off to Le’Raven Clark. Duke Ejiofor takes advantage of the opportunity to chuck Nelson while he is off balance and gets a hit on Luck after he releases the pass — a completion to T.Y. Hilton on the right sideline. It is also worth noting that this is another Jadeveon Clowney stunt. This time it is into the A gap and goes through Ryan Kelly. Kelly is also well out of position and gets beat badly but the stunt takes so long to develop that Luck gets his pass away. While this isn’t the best piece of film in the world it does demonstrate that Nelson did spend a good portion of his day finding ways to help other offensive linemen. One of my favorite attributes about Nelson is his vision and that he stays busy looking for someone to block. There were multiple plays that could be used as an example but this is one of the habits he has that will make him a good offensive lineman for a long time. While I included each play where Nelson struggled against Texans pass rushers, he also had plenty of plays where he shut them down. This is an example of Mercilus making the mistake of getting directly into Nelson’s chest. Squaring up Nelson means losing Authentic Eric Ebron Jersey , for pretty much anyone. There were also examples of Nelson punishing defenders and finishing blocks, consistent with his reputation. The official lost his mind and called Nelson for holding on this play — he ought to be embarrassed and potentially relieved of his NFL officiating responsibilities moving forward for this garbage — but this is how you want any offensive linemen to block. Nelson takes Angelo Blackson’s best shot outside and has no problem shutting down his spin move. Blackson is then left to try to “arm wrestle” Nelson with his hands up in his shoulder pads. He ends up running his feet underneath himself and surrendering his base. Nelson then serves up a pancake for his teammates. Nelson 1 - Blackson 0 - Officials - blew it.ANALYSISThis is arguably Nelson’s weakest overall performance as a pass blocker this season. I still think that his win percentages make him a very strong guard and that he has certainly shown of the talent it will take to become the Pro Bowl caliber player everyone thinks he can be, but there are some habits he needs to break. It is also clear that dealing with NFL athletes who are more agile and faster than the players he regularly faced in college is sometimes a challenge for him. While the Texans defensive line isn’t quite as stacked as some of the other teams Nelson has faced this season, Jadeveon Clowney is unlike any other pass rusher he has seen this year. He is arguably the most dominant and well-rounded edge rusher he has faced all season. He still has some learning to do but 59 neutral or positive plays out of 65 total passing drop backs isn’t anything to be overly upset about.
