After months - years, even - of discussions, the chairmen and chief executives of the 18 first-class counties and the MCC meet at Lords on Wednesday to discuss the options for the future of the domestic T20 competition, with the ECB executive looking by a consensus by the time ends. Though five options were presented to the counties, two scenarios (Option 2 and Option 4) have emerged as the most likely.Option 2 Two divisions of nine teams with three promoted and relegated each year. Broadcasters to focus on top division.ForEnsures all 18 counties remain involved.Ensures more geographic spread of competition.Retains successful appointment to view formula.Retains integrity of County Championship.Promotion and relegation offers added context and drama.Builds on growth of current event, for which audiences have grown by 63% since 2012.Ensures domestic T20 cricket remains relevant in smaller cities and towns where it has proved most popularAllows broadcasters to focus on top division to ensure clearer narrative for viewers less familiar with the game.Played through the second two-thirds of the season, so minimises damage of poor spell of weather.Does not demand too much of spectators time or money in short period.AgainstSome counties feel that all 18 should have the opportunity to win every year. Not as popular among broadcasters so therefore offers to bring in less money. It has been valued at around £30m less attractive to broadcasters, though that number is disputed.Would continue difficulty of attracting overseas players for duration of tournament.Little availability of England playersCould diminish opportunities for lucrative local derbies (though local derby day one suggested amendment to plan).Works in other domestic sports such as football and rugby.Players and coaches state the standard improves if tournament played in a block.Option 4 An eight-team city-based competition played in a July window plus a continuation of the existing 18-team competition played a little earlier in the season.ForThe ECB executive (and their independent broadcast analysts) suggest the city-based competition could bring in up to £40m in new revenue, although it is disputed whether all this money will be new or partially replacementAll counties would still be able to host T20 cricket. All counties would benefit from increased revenues (at least in the short term).Window renders it easier to sign overseas players for duration of tournament.Enables the continuation of the popular Friday night (with slight geographic variances) cricketMight enable small counties to retain their best players as new competition would provide incentive to earn place in eight-team tournament.Matches broadcast every night of the week help build narrative and public interest.Condenses the best players into a small league.Rebranding may help improve image of English T20.AgainstThreatens to compromise standard of domestic cricket - and in turn the production line for the England teams - by either withdrawing around 80-100 players from Championship cricket for a month or demanding a window when no other cricket is played during July.Playing in a window leaves the competition at the mercy of the weather and demands a great deal of at-ground spectators.England players hardly available until 2020 at earliest. If they are to be made available, Englands international commitments will have to be cut meaning a reduction in broadcast revenue from that source.Threatens to marginalise the smaller counties and reduce the status and value of the existing competition to the LDV Vans tournament of English cricket.ECB calculations show that around 25% of the population live around the eight grounds that would be utilised. The comparison figure in Australia is 65%. Top-quality T20 cricket therefore less available to vast number of people.Might limit opportunities for young or largely unknown players and threatens to render many players less relevant and possibly unemployed.Threatens to cut the number of counties by stealth.Specifically conflicts with ECB constitution that states that all 18 teams must be involved in all competitions.Likely to prove unpopular with current county members.Little evidence to suggest that spectators in England and Wales warm to newly branded teams and city-branding likely to prove unpopular with football supporters (Aston Villa supporters may well baulk at idea of following Birmingham, for example). GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Randall Cobb slid to a stop on the slick field in the end zone after a 9-yard touchdown pass before adding another move.It was time for a little more fun in the snow. The wide receiver caught one of two touchdown passes from Aaron Rodgers, and the Green Bay Packers found their footing in the snow with two fourth-quarter scores to pull away from the Houston Texans for a 21-13 win on Sunday.Houston (6-6) lost its third straight game and its grip on the AFC South. The Texans are tied with idle Tennessee and a half-game ahead of Indianapolis, which plays the New York Jets on Monday night, for the division lead. The Packers (6-6) had a much better time after winning their second straight game to return to .500 for the first time in a month. Before Cobb got up in the end zone after his 9-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter, he did a snow angel. No, it was spur of the moment, Cobb said of his child-like celebration. I was sliding and I couldnt get up as fast as I wanted to, so I was like, why not?Back in their element in the cold, the Packers have stabilized following a four-game losing streak that dropped them to 4-6. Theyre tied with Minnesota in second in the NFC North, two games back of Detroit.Rodgers threw for 209 yards and Jordy Nelson had 118 yards receiving and a score. The Packers two fourth-quarter touchdowns capped drives of 98 and 89 yards, respectively. The Texans must regroup again, though weather shouldnt be a factor the next two games. Houston travels to Indianapolis next week before hosting Jacksonville. Both games will be in domed stadiums. These are games that we have to figure it out, coach Bill OBrien said. If we dont, were not going to be where we want to be. If we do, well have a shot.Other notes and takeaways from Sundays game:RODGERS HAMSTRING: Rodgers was 20 of 30. He looked OK after being limited in practice with a left hamstring injury, taking off for a couple runs, though he didnt seem to have his usual mobility on the slippery turf. I dont know if you ever come out better than you did coming in, but I feel good about where Im at, Rodgers said. I had decent movement and didnt do anything to create a major ssetback.ddddddddddddMAKING PROGRESS: Quarterback Brock Osweiler has faced heat for the Texans offensive struggles this season. He was composed in the second half in leading Houston on 10-play, 63-yard drive that ended with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Griffin on fourth-and-1 to tie it at 7 with 7:32 left in the third quarter.Osweiler finished 22 of 35 for 202 yards.Look, I thought he battled. It was a tough environment as far as weather and things like that, OBrien said. He was pressured a few times, hung in there and played tough. I thought he battled all day.MATTHEWS IN THE MIDDLE: Clay Matthews seemed to be on a limited snap count coming back from a shoulder injury sustained last week against Philadelphia. But the long-haired linebacker gave a depleted position a boost by helping to fill in at inside linebacker. Starter Blake Martinez is still out with a knee injury. Jake Ryan returned after a two-game absence because of an ankle injury, but had to get the ankle re-taped in the first half.Any impact to it was pretty painful, Matthews said. But no worse for the wear if Im trying to be an optimist here. Hopefully next week, its that much better.SNOW DOWN: Texans cornerback Charles James went bare-chested during pregame warmups. Green Bay in the cold. Texans up, he boasted while signing autographs. But James slipped to the turf in the fourth quarter, leaving Nelson wide open in the end zone for a 32-yard touchdown pass that gave the Packers the lead for good, 14-7.I dont want to make any excuses, you know what I mean? James said. Thats what you get paid for to stay up there in inclement weather and go out there and be at your best.INJURY REPORT: Texans: WR Braxton Miller left with a shoulder injury after being driven to the cold turf by safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in the second quarter on an incompletion. ... LB Nick Perry, who leads the team with eight sacks, returned with his left hand heavily wrapped after missing most of the first half with the injury.---For more NFL coverage: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Wholesale Jerseys 2018 Cheap Jerseys Online Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Hoodies Wholesale NFL Jerseys Stitched Jerseys Wholesale NFL Womens Jerseys Cheap NFL T-shirts China Jerseys Wholesale Youth NFL Jerseys China Stitched NFL Jerseys NFL Jerseys Outlet White NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys NFL China Cheap NFL Jerseys Camo ' ' '
