EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The AFC South is up for grabs and the Indianapolis Colts are hanging in despite an up-and-down season. The playoff run begins now for Andrew Luck and Co., with a game Monday night against the lowly New York Jets, who are simply playing out the string in a disappointing season. Not that the Colts (5-6) are taking the Jets (3-8) lightly. They cant afford to, not with Houston (6-5) and Tennessee (6-6) ahead of them in the standings entering this weekend. This isnt a deal where you sit there and hope and pray that something else happens, Colts coach Chuck Pagano said. You have to control what you can control and we can control how we handle ourselves. ... Its going to be a huge challenge: on the road, hostile environment, you have weather, crowd noise, you have elements, you have environment, you have all that stuff that you have to deal with.Again, there is nothing better than being on that stage and we have to do our part in preparation to get ready to play a good football game. After a 28-7 loss to Pittsburgh on Thanksgiving, the Colts will have Luck back under center after he missed the game with a concussion and was replaced by Scott Tolzien . Luck returned to full practice activity earlier in the week and needed only to be cleared by an independent doctor to play Monday night.Sitting and watching is no fun, Luck said. Playing is fun. Practicing is fun. Winning is fun.Thats something the Jets havent done much of this season, although coach Todd Bowles insists that remains the focus for his team. Thats why hes starting Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback this week despite a growing sentiment that New York should see what it has in Bryce Petty, who was so-so in a spot start three weeks ago when the veteran sat out with a sprained knee. While the Jets are all but assured missing the playoffs for the sixth straight season, they are aiming for a strong finish. Were all trying to win every game, Bowles said, whether were trying to get to 8-8 or whether were trying to be 16-0.Here are some other things to know as the Colts and Jets prepare to face each other on Monday night:LIGHTS OUT: The Colts were once a good bet in prime-time games. Not anymore.Indy has lost five straight games and seven of the last eight it has played under the lights. The list includes a Thanksgiving night loss to Pittsburgh last week and a defeat in September 2015 to the Jets. And the Colts are just 3-9 in prime time since January 2011.MARSHALL PLAN: Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall caught a 1-yard TD pass against the Patriots last week , his first score since Oct. 9 at Pittsburgh -- a span of five games without reaching the end zone.Hes having a down year statistically with 49 catches for 668 yards and three touchdowns, far off his pace from last season when he had a franchise-record 109 receptions for 1,502 yards and 14 TDs.Still, Marshall is moving up the career lists. He needs 59 yards receiving to become the 25th player in NFL history with 12,000. Marshall also has seven career 100-yard receiving performances on Monday Night Football, one behind Tim Brown and Andre Reed for third place all-time.FANTASTIC FRANK: Colts running back Frank Gore has been passing familiar faces on the NFLs career rushing list all season. On Monday night, he can do it again.Gore needs 30 yards rushing to move past Hall of Famer Tony Dorsett (12,739) for No. 8. He has already passed five Hall of Famers this year: Thurman Thomas, Franco Harris, Marcus Allen, Marshall Faulk and Jim Brown. He also passed old friend Edgerrin James, one of the three non-Hall of Famers to appear in the top 15. The others: LaDainian Tomlinson, who will be eligible for induction next year, and Gore.THE LINE: The Jets have three first-rounders on their defensive line in Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson and Leonard Williams, so the Colts continually changing offensive line may face its most difficult task all season. The good news: center Ryan Kelly and right guard Denzelle Good have practiced this week, so the Colts may not need to piece together their seventh different starting line this season. The bad news: Indy has given up 38 sacks in 11 games, the second-highest total in the league.TIGHT ENDS BREAK OUT: Chan Gailey hasnt used tight ends much in the passing game in his two seasons as the Jets offensive coordinator, with New York getting just eight receptions (Jeff Cumberland, five; Kellen Davis, three) last year.It was much of the same until last week, when Brandon Bostick had two and Austin Seferian-Jenkins one -- giving the Jets a whopping seven from the position this season. The three catches were the most New York has gotten from the position since Cumberland had three against New England on Dec. 21, 2014.---AP Sports Writer Michael Marot in Indianapolis contributed.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Cheap Nike Free Shoes . It was the second consecutive win for the Pacers (2-5), who lost their first five preseason games. Jeff Teague led the Hawks (1-5) with 17 points and eight assists and Al Horford had 12 points and seven rebounds. Mike Scott scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half. According to a report from the Vancouver Province, the Lions are expected to replace former DC Rich Stubler with defensive backs coach Mark Washington. COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- When Trevor Knight was benched at Oklahoma last year he could have accepted that hed spend the rest of his career as a backup.Instead, the quarterback transferred to Texas A&M as a graduate student where he received a second chance to start, and so far its paid off for both Knight and the 10th-ranked Aggies who are 3-0 heading into Saturdays game against No. 17 Arkansas.Poised and confident, the 22-year-old Knight doesnt show any sign of annoyance or discomfort when asked to recount his experience last season when Baker Mayfield took his job after sitting out the season as a transfer from Texas Tech.As a competitor you want to be on the field, Knight said. So anytime you play a lot early and get that taken away from you, does it hurt? Absolutely. I want to be on the field and thats the only reason I left OU in the first place. Now that he is thriving in a new place, Knight said he actually appreciates the detour his career took. Its kind of a cool story, he said. Not many times do you see a guy that gets benched and then can come back and play good football the next season? And thats exactly what Knight is doing. Hes thrown for 835 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 154 yards and three more scores, including the game-winning touchdown in overtime against UCLA. His play has helped the Aggies crack the top 10 after opening the season unranked.Coach Kevin Sumlin appreciates his background and is perhaps most impressed by the way he handled being benched.Because of the kind of person he is, he looked in the mirror and said: `Hey look I need to do some things, I can be better, Sumlin said.Knight joined the team in January and provided stability to an offense that was left searching for a new signal-caller after the transfers of both Kyler Murray and Kyle Allen in December. Sumlin is quick to laud Knight for filling a major void in the team, but knows the quarterback also needed the Aggies. We filled a void for him, too, and it gave him an opportunity and a second chance to show what he can do on a big stage, Sumlin said. A lot of people dont get that chance and hes very, very happy about it. Were happy about it.Knights solid play is certainly the most important part of his resurgence at Texas A&M. However, coaches aand players alike rave about the way he stepped in and immediately took over a leadership role.dddddddddddd. Sumlin often references Knights age and maturity, which is a stark contrast to the mostly freshman players who have lined up at quarterback in Sumlins time at A&M.Knight started 15 games in his first two seasons with the Sooners with the highlight coming when as a freshman he earned MVP honors in a 45-31 Sugar Bowl win over Alabama by throwing for 348 yards and four touchdowns.Sophomore receiver Christian Kirk took to Knight immediately and loves having a veteran player to learn from.Hes so experienced and you can see his poise, especially in these big games that weve already played, Kirk said. Hes always calm, he never gets down ... hes been around and hes played a lot of games and hes seen a lot of stuff. So to have that it helps out the young guys like me coming into my second season. While the Aggies are happy with Knights work so far, Sumlin and his staff are still working on ways to improve his play. Sumlin believes his past has made him more open to constructive criticism and honest communication about how to eliminate some of the football that created the situation of him losing his job. What we try to do and where weve made a real effort is trying to eliminate bad football, Sumlin said. Thats not always going to be the case, but theres a conscious effort to do that in practice and with him in particular and he wants to be great.Knight and the Aggies will need to continue to improve with a tough October ahead with games against South Carolina, No. 14 Tennessee and top-ranked Alabama. The well-traveled quarterback has been around enough to know that three good games in September wont mean much if the Aggies dont build on that success. Still, after where he was last year at this time he is savoring his early success.Obviously, we havent proved anything yet, weve got a long way to go, but I think its kind of been apparent to the country that I made the right decision, he said. And I feel like I made the right decision for my last year.---Online: AP College Football website www.collegefootball.ap.org China NFL Jerseys Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys NFL Jerseys Cheap Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap Basketball Jerseys Online Stitched Hockey Jerseys Wholesale Baseball Jerseys Football Jerseys Outlet College Jerseys For Sale Cheap MLB Jerseys Wholesale Soccer Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys For Sale Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '
